To link statically to openssl , use the following (can be added as an option to
the compile instructions):
  cp configure configure.orig &&
  sed -e "s:-lcrypto:/usr/lib/libcrypto.a:g" configure.orig > configure

[fmII] Portable OpenSSH 3.6p1 released (Stable branch)

This email is to inform you about the release of version '3.6p1' of
'Portable OpenSSH' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful

The changes in this release are as follows:
RSA blinding is now used by ssh, sshd, and ssh-agent. ssh-agent
optionally requires user confirmation if a key gets used. sshd now
handles PermitRootLogin correctly when UsePrivilegeSeparation is
enabled, and removes X11 cookies when a session gets closed.
ssh-keysign is disabled by default. ssh and sshd now handle 'kex
guesses' correctly. ssh no longer overwrites SIG_IGN. setting
ProxyCommand to 'none' disables the proxy feature. scp supports
bandwidth limiting.  

Project description:
This is a Unix/Linux port of OpenBSD's excellent  OpenSSH. OpenSSH is
a full implementation of the  SSH1 protocol and a 99% implementation
of the  SSH 2 protocol, including sftp client and server  support.
