Where did you find that? I am curious as to what activity is
buggy/incompat on OLPC 8.2.x and why...

cheers,

Skybluetero: GUI for Airtime.py

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share with you this piece of software I wrote last year and have been using here at Ceibal.
It's a GUI for Ricardo Carrano's airtime.py.

Extracted from the project's google code site:

skybluetero analyzes tcpdump or wireshark captures and plots the airtime consumption of the filtered packets (using wireshark expressions).

Some of its features:

  • Plotting results using matplotlib, allows to save the plot as an image.
  • Multiple plot styles
  • Save/Load filter expressions
  • Export results to CSV
  • Many, many others to come...
I'm barely maintaining it since it is only used at Ceibal by a couple of colleagues. They've reported a couple of bugs and I fixed them. That's it.
Maybe if someone else uses it, I may be able to upgrade it, maybe not.

Just wanted to let everyone know that you have this tool if you're analyzing wireless traffic. You can download it here.

Send me comments, suggestions or bugs if you want.

And for the record, SBT is Exactly What You Need if you are trying to
diagnose *why* your wifi frequency is saturated.

One would naively think that a conventional "look at the packets" is
enough, but different traffic takes different airtime (some of it is
modulated r e a l l y s l o w). And wireless is all about airtime.

So get SBT. Now!

Re: [Server-devel] turn off backlight on XS-on-XO1

yes, that would probably work. there's no X11 requirement in kbdshim
or powerd. but to be clear: is the requirement for blanking after
an idle period? or do you just want a command to blank the screen?
because the latter can be created pretty easily.

I want it on idle :-)

Console blanking does work on XO-1 B2 with build 406, so it was
something removed since then. ;-)

Updating "latest releases" info on the OLPC wiki

Please update the 'Latest releases' sidebar on the main page of the
OLPC wiki. I've added separate 1.0 and 1.5 sections; please fix or
update the links where appropriate (and keep the 1.5 versions up to
date).

To update the template, follow the "+/-" link in the lower-right
corner. That's the template page itself; confirmed editors can leave
a comment on its talk page or edit it directly.

SJ

PS - there are some awesome new Spanish-language software how-tos
coming out of Nicaragua (thanks to dsd and the fine folks at
200.30.165.130), including how to upgrade and run xs builds. Those of
you who work in Spanish might also check those to help check their
work.

Is there an API that we can hook into release scripts? ;-)

Oh My! Version inflation - we're up to q2e42e.rom . What's the state of it?

cheers,

Re: Announcing Q2E42 firmware for XO-1.0

The various alpha suffix revisions fix the problems that have been
reported. Systematic testing has not happened yet. Is there a plan yet
for engaging deployment teams to do testing?
