HELP!!!!!

Hi, I am a total newbie to Linux, and have just installed RedHat 9, as linux seems more desirable, and i got it really cheap(retail boxed), at work. I have the belkin f5d7050 usb adaptor on a 54g wireless network. But can i get it to work, by christ no!!!!! I'm havin to go back to windows everytime i need the net, which is ALWAYS!!! So if anyone is nice enough, would you be able to put in absolute laymans terms a step by step guide to installing this bastard usb device, and get me on the net, so i can goodbye to windows once and for all and join you guys in your quest to knocking mr gates out of the top spot. My knowledge with linux does not even extend to mounting my second hard drive(im telling you its impossible!), so would probably have to be a command by command step by step guide, if u know wot i mean. So it would be amazing if someone could help! Thanks very much in advance to you geniuses of the computer world! Kev 3:16

Re: HELP!!!!!

Hi,

you should be able to use your wireless card under Red Hat 9 with
DriverLoader. DriverLoader is a revolutionary compatibility-wrapper
allowing standard Windows NDIS (Network Driver Interface Specification)
drivers shipped by hardware vendors to be used as-is on Linux x86 systems.

The Belkin F5D7050 (with USB ID 050D:7050) is supported by DriverLoader.
You can obtain DriverLoader from the following page :

http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/downloads-license.php

You should read the installation instructions at :

http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/install.php

Since you do not have Internet access from Linux, you will have to
download the DriverLoader package as well as the Windows XP driver in
Windows and then transfer these files to your Linux machine. For
example, you could use a CD or a floppy disk to transfer the files.

SuSE 9.2

Has anyone gotten the generic driverloader rpm to work with SuSE 9.2? I have
a centrino a/b/g (ipw2200) that worked well with driverloader under SuSE 9.1
but doesn't seem to be recognized by the web configurator under 9.2. I did
make sure to add "ipw2200" to the hotplug blacklist and verified via lsmod
that the module wasn't loaded....

Re: SuSE 9.2

Hi,

with recent versions of DriverLoader, you no longer have to disable the
conflicting module(s) manually as the DriverLoader script will
automatically disables the problematic module(s).

Could you please send at support <at> linuxant.com the output of 'dumpdiag'?
Type the following in a root shell:

---
dldrconfig --dumpdiag
---

Just send us the generated file located in /tmp
('driverloaderdiag.txt'). It'll help us solve the problem.

RE: SuSE 9.2 [SOLVED]

Jonathan, although I have installed and configured driverloader a gazillion
times, this time has proven to be a struggle. Why? A problem between the
keyboard and the chair ;)

I solved the problem, I was using the 2100 drivers instead of the 2200.
Sorry about that and thanks for your help...

No device found DWL-G630 Cardbus

Linuxant webconfigurator reports no device found after upload of windoze .inf and .sys files.  Tried XP and W2K (which share the same filename) with same result.

modprobe driverloader appears to load the module as reported by lsmod.

lspci -v reports the adapter on irq 9 but shows memory "disabled".

Adapter works fine booting xp.  Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Airlink 802.11g PCMCIA

Folks,

First, let me thank Jonathan for his help with the Belkin F5D6020 v3.
After a few aborted attempts at a configuration file, everything is
working smoothly, and I have purchased a license.

Now for the next challenge, I have an Airlink+ 802.11g PCMCIA card
(AWLC3025), which I think uses the TI ACX111 chip. I'm trying it with
Debian 3.0r3. The sourceforge NDIS wrapper doesn't seem to work on this
yet. And the driverloader tool doesn't recognize the TNET1130.inf XP
driver file (latest downloaded from the airlink plus site) as viable for
the card. I have installed the appropriate kernel-source deb. Various
cardctl commands do show that Debian recognizes that the card is plugged
in.

Perhaps a similar mod is required for the inf file.

Thanks,
Mike

Driverloader module not functioning until reloaded

I have two problems with driverloader running on Mandrake 10.1 community
and a D-Link DWL-610.

The first problem was that the driverloader module was being loaded just
after mandrake attempted to start the eth1 interface. I solved this by
changing the name of /etc/rc5.d/S11driverloader to S10driverloader.

The second problem is harder to solve. When loaded into memory on boot,
the driverloader module does not function at all. I have checked that
the module is in memory with lsmod, but no lights on the network card
come on.
If I remove the driver and reload it with rmmod and modprobe, it starts
to function immediately.

Why doesn't it work when it is loaded at boot time, and how can I make
it work?

Steve.
