Re: Re: embedded irda modem for windows

Hi Jean,

Thanks for your reply, I got such error when running irdadump
#./irdadump
./irdadump: Address family not supported by protocol

But I am sure I have TCP/IP in the service, do you have any suggestion
to solve it?
And for the socket to IrCOMM, I find there is a socket type, AF_IRDA,
which can use in domain paramter on "socket", does it work?

Regards,
Jacky

You need to recompile your kernel with CONFIG_PACKET.

This gives you access to IrSOCK sockets, i.e. normal IrDA
sockets. There are many example on how to use those sockets in
irda-utils/irsockets.
Those sockets don't provide IrCOMM support (however, they are
used for things like OBEX).

	Have fun...

	Jean

irda and pppd fails with nokia 6610i

Hi

I am trying to set up networking between my phone and computer in order
to be able to sync it with multisync.

The Ir connection seems to work fine. I have tested it with gnokii and
minicom. However when I try to get pppd to bring up a network using the
instructions from the Infrared-HOWTO I fail with the following error
messages.

root <at> blizzard # pppd call irda
Serial connection established.

Re: Re: Re: Re: embedded irda modem for windows

Hi Jean,

Thanks for your reply, do you know what should I use (IrCOMM / IrSOCK)
on my embedded system for irda modem for windows? and do you have any
example or tutorial which can suggest to me to work with the irda modem?

Thanks a lot

Regards,
Jacky

toshiba 5205-S703 remote control that works in LILO (linux boot loader)!!!!

Hello,

I got an Toshiba 5205-S703 laptop. This laptop comes with an IR
remote control from toshiba.
What I want to do is control "mplayer" and "xmms" through LIRC.

The problem is, that this toshiba remote control is very strange. I
can power on the notebook by pressing the "Power ON BUTTON" on the
remote control. For my surprise, I can even SELECT the kernel image to
boot in LILO through the remote control, with the remote controller
"arrow keys" and "enter key"!!!!

The remote control has arrows, enter key and some other buttons.
ENTER key works like I'm pressing the ENTER key in the keyboard.
Example: In the linux login prompt, If I type the username through
the notebook keyboard, I could then press ENTER in the remote control.

So the question is: Is this remote control IRDA? Why this remote
control works without a smsc-ircc2 or lirc_sir module loaded?!?

    Also, if I "modprobe lirc_sir"
    found SMC SuperIO Chip (devid=0x5a rev=00 base=0x002e): LPC47N227
    smsc_superio_flat(): fir: 0x130, sir: 0x3f8, dma: 03, irq: 3, mode: 0x8a
    SMsC IrDA Controller found
     IrCC version 2.0, firport 0x130, sirport 0x3f8 dma=3, irq=3
No transceiver found. Defaulting to Fast pin select

    And I type "irdadump":

Re: stir4200 errors

Putting this on the irda list because it it is good to share.
It looks like the problem is an attempt to switch speed.

various dongle drivers have been blindly updated. Nobody bothered to
test those, and I don't have those hardware, so there is likely to be
