RE: No console redirection on PE1750 / Cyclades TS2000

Don't know if this would help but to enable console redirection on our
PE1750 we set up the speed to 19200.

DRAC III enabled with telnet give us information until the system is booted.
After, the console redirection is running under Linux.

RE: Kernel panic on 2650 after creating logical volume

Just for information, what was your distribution/version of linux ?

PS : We had this kind of error under Redhat Linx 7.2 : just booted in rescue
mode and re-created the initrd directory.

Booting up from floppy problem, PE 2650

Hi,

I had this problem several weeks ago and was never able to figure this out.
I'm running a RH 8 box, Dell Power Edge 2650 server and for some reason I am
not able to boot up from floppy, even though I tried just about every option
available on my system BIOS on boot up.

I'm trying to boot from a recovery disk created by my backup software - I'm
using mondo recovery OS software for that.

Any ideas as to what I might be missing?

Could I boot up from one of the RH 8 distribution disks? Or would I have to
create a recovery disk first?

I am able to access my CD Rom drive so at least I know that's working OK.

Thanks for any info.

mt: /dev/st0: Input/output error

mt: /dev/st0: Input/output error

I'm using the Dell supplied DDS4 tape in the PV100T DDS4 tape drive
(factory) installed in my PowerEdge 2600.

I've just installed SuSE Enterprise Server 8, and had the same problem with
SuSE 8.2 Pro.

When the tape is write-protected, I can't issue certain commands, eg:
# mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind
# tar tvf /dev/nst0

In both cases I get the error mentioned above.

I've taken the write protecton off, and issued the following commands:
# mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind
# tar cvf /dev/nst0 /boot
# tar cvf /dev/nst0 /bin
# tar cvf /dev/nst0 /usr
# mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind
# mt -f /dev/nst0 fsf 1
# tar tvf /dev/nst0

I get the expected output.

I then make the tape write-protected, and issue the following commands:
# mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind
# tar tvf /dev/nst0

After the second, I get the error message mentioned - this does longer than

Tips on 2.4 series kernel for PE1750?

I just got Debian (Woody) up and running on a PE1750 with a PERC4-DI controller, using the Boot ISO from http://gustavo.imente.com/debian/bootbf2.4.21-ac4-4.iso.

Can anyone point me to a sample config file for a 2.4 series kernel (we usually use 2.4.29 in production here), or give me any tips on drivers for the RAID card and Broadcomm NIC's? A pointer to a FAQ or the like would be just fine with me. This is my first go with Debian on this hardware, and since at least one of my new 1750's will end up as a bridging firewall, I know I'm going to have to build a custom kernel soon...

Thanks for any help,

Clay
