trads.xml updates available?

Hi,

I just noticed that there were some docs missing in our (the Germans')
trads.xml and I wonder if there are any updates on it publicly
available. I have been adding new entries and removing old ones along
with the changes to metadoc.xml and apparently I missed a few in the
past or just forgot about updating trads.xml.

How do the other translation teams handle it? How do you decide about
the files' priorities?

Thanks,
Tobias

Beats me. I don't remember if I've ever had to make changes to the
file. Maybe neysx did back in the day, but he's nowhere to be found.
I'd say just do what works for you and fits with the rest of our
docs. Any other help you need from me, just ask.

There's a doc someplace that lists the relative priorities of
the docs -- handbook was at the top of the list.

The Spanish translation team uses [1] to keep track of the status of
translations.

Priorities and time frames for translations are shown at [2].

Handbook: Disc Labels?

Hello,

Some discussion on modifying the Gentoo Handbook to
describe how to use Disk Labels is warranted?

Many have switched to disk labels in fstab. Maybe
the Gentoo handbook should include a section on disk label
usage to prepare for the future?

just a thought,
comments?

James

These aren't needed to get a system up and running. Yeah, Ubuntu uses
them for various ID purposes, but nothing really critical. Unless
there's a clear need for them, for example if some package in the
<at> system set will use them in a way that our users will see, I doubt
the handbook needs to cover them. Adding labels using udev just seems
very finicky and time-consuming, and doesn't seem like it would be of
much utility when users are already swamped with everything else the
handbook asks them to do.

If someone's willing to provide the text, then sure, I'll consider
adding it to the handbooks, but if not, then I won't spend any energy
trying to write something up. Things like GPT for hard disks are far
more important, now that the large-size disks are shipping with it
rather than the old MSDOS partition arrangement..

OK, I have opened up bug 354229 on this issue. Please give some
time for folks to post to the bug on ideas and text with
