Code listing 8.4: Copying GRP files

Lists the wrong command to copy packages- it put them into a "packages"
subdirectory in the packages directory.

The correct command syntax is listed in-

Code listing 25.2: Loading binary packages from CD2

I'm not sticking my hands out, but after all the fuzz about the GRP I'm
rather sure that the commands now work (roger55?)

The difference is that, when reaching 8.4, there is no subdir All/ yet, while
in 25.2 there is. That's one of the reasons they are different.

I also haven't seen any bugreports on GRP anymore since the last GRP-change.

Patch to installation guide

Hi,

I was too late to comment on a bug, but I'd like to apply the following patch
to the installation guide too:

22564 grsecurity prelink-howto prelinking and grsecurity don't match perfectly.

Fwd: gentoo-x86-install: Listing 8.6: mkdir /mnt/gentoo/proc

Subject: gentoo-x86-install: Listing 8.6: mkdir /mnt/gentoo/proc

Hello,

I think in the current gentoo-x86-install guide is missing a detail:

In code listing 8.6:

Shouldnt there be a line like:

# mkdir /mnt/gentoo/proc

at the very beginning?

I installed from stage1 and the /proc directory did not exist, so "mount
-t proc proc /mnt/gentoo/proc" fails.
I did not care, but after rebooting with the new system the booting
froze at "mounting /proc". First I thought something was wrong with my
kernel-configuration, until I realized that I only had to create the
directory ...

Perhaps I made mistake and deleted the /proc directory some when during
the installation without noticing. But if thats not the case this could
be an issue for newbies (like me).

$ tar tvjpf /stage1-x86-1.4-20030806.tar.bz2 | grep proc
[...]
drwxr-xr-x 0/0 0 2003-08-07 04:23:21 ./proc/

So this stage1 contains a /proc directory; What datestamp (for the stage1)
did you use?

You are completely right there is a /proc, I could have checked first
myself ...

Sorry for the mess.
