Monthly Gentoo Council Reminder for January

This is your monthly friendly reminder ! Same bat time (typically
the 3rd Thursday at 1800 UTC / 2000 CET / 1400 EST), same bat channel
(#gentoo-council  <at>  irc.freenode.net) !

If you have something you'd wish for us to chat about, maybe even
vote on, let us know ! Simply reply to this e-mail for the whole
Gentoo dev list to see.

Keep in mind that every GLEP *re*submission to the council for review
must first be sent to the gentoo-dev mailing list 7 days (minimum)
before being submitted as an agenda item which itself occurs 7 days
before the meeting. Simply put, the gentoo-dev mailing list must be
notified at least 14 days before the meeting itself.

For more info on the Gentoo Council, feel free to browse our homepage:

Real question is why not? local USE flags provide more details than
the very generic global description and as such are considered a good
thing. That is one of the purposes I had in mind originally when I
wrote GLEP 56 [1].

They are a good thing if they provide additional information.
But I don't see that in the two descriptions above.

RFC: Should skype have check_license function? The eula is missing also from license_groups?

I'm not a lawyer, but it looks like Skype's ebuilds should force users
to agree the end user agreement?

-- cut --

inherit eutils

pkg_setup() {
	check_license
}

-- cut --

Also, note that skype-eula isn't listed [1] in license_groups in profiles/

Farewell, Gentoo.

Hello, everybody!

I would like to formally request that I be retired from the Gentoo
project. A developer since 2006, there is a lot I would like to thank
the community for. Over the past few years, I have learnt a lot, and
have had the pleasure to work with and befriend many wonderful people.

However, I can no longer find the time, nor the motivation, to continue
working on the project. Despite my numerous comeback attempts, I believe
it's time to face the facts and admit that I've changed as a person and
Gentoo is no longer one of my priorities. I have other things in life I
need to pursue.

I will not be vanishing from the community altogether. You should still
be able to find me on IRC (omp <at> freenode). And, if you care enough, I
have recently created a Twitter account ( <at> ompskees) as well.

Once again, thank you for everything, but my time has come. Adieu!

Thanks David! It was a pleasure working with you. I wish you all the best.

[RFC] base.eclass

Hola,
I have incorporated all fixes to base.eclass that has been itching me
for a while (closes both open bugs).

Whats new:
* base_src_install docs
this thingie install docs and html_docs from bash array defined in
global scope (or anywhere else indeed :P)

* all bash variable arrays including the PATCHES one have support for
folders

* using same codestyle everywhere...

* using pushd/popd instead of cd

Diff and full eclass attached.

Living link:
http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/kde.git;a=blob;f=eclass/base.eclass

Also i would recommend we in QA take over maintainership for this eclass
if Peter wont mind or comaintain with him if he wants not to proxy all
changes through us?

Any more suggestions for this eclass or bugs you find reply please to
-dev thread so we keep it nicely folded for everyone

Tom

I support this.

Also, I would recommend using [[ instead of [ for tests throughout. It
is safer and better coding practice.
