Ping

Hi all.

This list has been silent for several months now. Which makes me wonder:
anyone alive in here? I'd like to revive the idea of having a
documentation team, anyone interested to help with that?

Bye, Mike

Hi Mike!

There must be some reason I subscribed to this list. I'm alive, just
back in China after 5 months in the States staying in a house with
no phone or internet access. Count me in.

Re: Ping

Hi.

Thanks for the responses (that have been sent off-list, in case you wonder
whether you've missed something ;)). I'll send a call to the madwifi-users
mailing list today and see if I can gather another few interested people.
If everything works out as planned, I'll describe my ideas for the
documentation team on monday.

In the meanwhile I'm all ears for any suggestions you might have. Don't
hesitate to describe them in a posting to the list. Thanks.

Suggestions for documentation improvements

Hi all.

As promised before here is a list of things that could/should be changed
in the wiki and our documentation. This list is not complete, and these
things are just proposals - feel free to comment on my suggestions and/or
add your ideas.

1. The wiki still provides information about how to work with madwifi-old.
However, madwifi-old has been deprecated for over a year now and I think
it's time to remove all references to it in our recipes at least. Some
examples:

 * http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/LongDistance, section "The athctrl tool"
 *
http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/Distro/Debian/ConfiguringtheMadWifidevice,
section "Automated VAP creation"
 * http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/SimpleWEPClient
 * http://madwifi.org/wiki/Chipsets
 * http://madwifi.org/wiki/WikiStart

Just search for "madwifi-old" with the wiki's search tool and you should
find a few other pages.

The only pages that should not be cleaned from their madwifi-old
references are those that clearly address the driver's history, such as
http://madwifi.org/wiki/NewCodebase

2. There are pages such as "MacBook" and "MacBooks" or "MadWifi" and
"MadWiFi" which seem to have little meaning and/or duplicate each other's
information. These should either be collapsed (and the references to them

Re: athstats

Hi.

Thanks for the explanation, Mike. I think this would be a good opportunity
to start a better documentation of the athstats tool. It's a pretty
helpful tool for debugging link issues and stuff, but it's not very
user-friendly if people have to dig through the source to understand what
the tool does.

Anyone up for this task? Help with questions about the tool will be
provided where possible. In addition, there were some other intersting
posts regarding athstats in the list archives iirc.

Bye, Mike
