Yesterday? Well, maybe in some time zones. The server I used for
hostap.epitest.fi died on Thursday and I had to move the pages to
another server. Both the CVS pserver and Bugzilla are down at the
moment because of this.

However, taken into account how much extra effort is needed for setting
up CVS pserver in a secure way, I don't think I will be doing it again.
Especially so, since I'm likely to stop using CVS for new development in
the near future.

If someone knows of a server that provides pserver output and allows one
to use rsync to upload the CVS repository, I could consider using
another server for this. If not, we may have to live without pserver and
I could just make the raw cvsroot directory available for downloading to
allow CVS to be used locally elsewhere in the same manner as pserver
(i.e., to get updates from my repository).

Well, I guess I was too sleepy on Friday :)

I'm not sure you have seen this (just the first hit on Google for
"secure pserver"):

http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Secure-CVS-Pserver/

It doesn't look terribly hard to me.

That's a good idea, but it would be great to keep uninterrupted access
to the revision history while it's happening.

Quick search on Google shows that this card supports 802.11g, so it
should be using the prism54 driver.

prism54.org is up. islsm.org is down.

No, it's not prism 3 and it's not compatible with hostap.

hostap/linux + airport extreme problems

Hi,

Has anyone got any tips for configuring a Linux + hostapd based
access point that will work with Apple Airport Extreme cards?

Presently I've got a setup that works fine with many PC based
wireless cards but seems to be very unreliable with an Apple AIrport
Extreme wireless card as a client; the Airport Extreme cards
associate but a ping shows only every second packet at best getting
through, this makes networking extremely slow and unreliable often
leading to the connection dropping out completely.

The access point hardware is the following:
	- Pentium 200 MMX aith 96Mb of RAM running Debian Sarge with a
custom 2.6.16 compiled kernel
	- D-Link DWL-650 11Mbps WLAN Card in a PCMCIA to PCI adaptor

The clients:
	- Mac OS 10.4 (PPC) iBook G4, Airport Extreme; associates but
doesn't maintain reliable connection, after a period of time
disassociates
	- Mac OS 10.4 (Intel) Macbook, Airport Extreme; associates but
doesn't maintain reliable connection, after a period of time
disassociates
	- WIndows XP Dell laptop, built in wireless; works flawlessly.
	- PC Desktop, Celeron, Debian sid, Belkin F5D6001au wireless card
(using the open source drivers; http://rtl8180-
sa2400.sourceforge.net/) kernel 2.6.16; works flawlessly

So far it's only been the airport extreme cards that I've had any

i know that and i run this card since 2 years.
that's not the problem, *wpa* is the question !
and *how* to do it.

_One_ version of Prism54 driver worked with hostapd. If I understood
correctly, the version in the kernel tree may not work. This issue has
come up before, but so far, I have not seen anyone who would be
interested in making the driver work. As long as this continues, I would
not expect much luck with the latest Prism54 drivers when tried with
hostapd. I'll try to remember to update the hostapd web page by adding
something along lines "used to work with a version; may not work with
current versions".

Just for AP mode?

Please note that "hostap" for me means the Prism2/Prism2.5/Prism3
_driver_ and it most certainly does not support Prism54. hostapd is the
user space program that supports a version of Prism54 _driver_.

and, before I forget it (again), you can also remove the special prism54.org
driver from wpa_supplicant. It's now supported through Linux' WEXT. (as of
2.6.18-git15).

BTW, (do you remember the driver_madwifi.c bug in
set_sta_flags ?). I said, I have a patch for the hostap-daemon to get the
prism54 card. I wanted to post a patch but unfortunatly,
it was too large. If you want it, ask maxi <at> daemonizer.de.

And something OT:

it seems to me it's a sort of "hot iron" for developer to do so.
could it be that it has something to do with "conexant bought
intersil" ?
it looks like a "break" of driver development when this happend.
there is something a can feel/smell...

Unfortunately, I do not have that level of detail readily available, I
just know that it did work at some point. The easiest way of figuring
this out could be to go through the driver_prism54.c history and then go
to the mailing list archives at around that time. This version was not
in the kernel tree, so one of the external releases..

OK. Client mode is going to be more difficult since that has never
worked with fullmac to the best of my knowledge..

I know the firmware works with WPA in AP mode. The problem was in
getting client mode working with fullmac (I haven't heard of anyone
been able to do it; the Windows drivers are likely to use softmac for

So nobody can offer any assistance with this ?

ieee80211 1.1.13

ipw3945 1.1.0
