encryption

Hi!

Are there any difference when using MadWifi built-in crypto or WPA
supplicant (hostapd) with WEP? I.e:

1) iwpriv ath0 authmode 2

or using wpa_supplicant (or hostapd)

2) key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
   pairwise=CCMP TKIP
   group=CCMP TKIP WEP104 WEP40

Only in case of using WEP104 or WEP40.

problems with zydas

ok, i am using the zd1211 driver, not the one from hawking, and it
works fine on open networks.

however, i want to use it on a wpa network, and i set it up to do so,
but the only wpa_supplicant i can find with zydas driver is the one
linked on zd1211 homepage

http://www.zydas.com.tw/web_driver/ZD1211_USB/Linux/lnx_wpa_supplicant_1_2_0_0.zip

however, after that one loads wpa_supplicant process, i can see it
from ps auxw, but it locks up tons of processes, locking up iwconfig,
ifconfig, etc, and i cannot kill them, nor can i kill it.

help?

Senao prism 2.5 card -- loading errors

I have a Senao prism 2.5-based wireless card that does not load completely.
The error messages from the log are listed below.

A few points that may help troubleshoot:

1. I am running on a laptop with an internal Intel 2200 wireless card which
is also prism-based. It works perfectly.

2. The Senao works fine in Windows.

3. I am running Ubuntu 5.1 preview with kernel 2.6.12-9-386.

Thank you!!

ok, i set it to 0, and it seems the lockup is gone. I'd also made the
ssid broadcast instead of hidden. so here is where i am now. iwconfig

ap_scan=0 mode is not really a very good option for WPA networks since
it has never been tested and is likely to not work. You would also need
to use an external program to trigger association. In other words,
ap_scan=2 would be a better choice. Anyway, I have never tested the
ZyDAS driver, so I have no idea what it supports and how it should be
configured.

As far as the kernel crash/lockup is concerned, that should be reported
to the author(s) of the driver, not this mailing list.

Re: [wpa-supplicant] Wireless-extension v19

Hi all!

I have seen now two patches to this topic, one from Jean, one from
Jouni. Unfortunately I couldn't get any of these to work with current
kernels.

I.e., I am running 2.6.14-rc2-mm1 and debian/sid, which ships
wpa_supplicant 0.4.4.

I tried with the two patches, the one didn't compile, the other did with
some hacks but didn't work, i.e. didn't associate with my wlan point.

Is there anything else I could try, a new version of the patch?

As I said, 2.6.14-rc2-mm1 with in kernel hostap drivers.

Best wishes

Norbert
