Works for me on FC6's 2.6.20.10'ish kernel, and builds with Fedora devel's
2.6.21.$something.

and with 2.6.21-git5 it doesn't work

It compiles, but with warning:

   CC [M] /home/aw/em8300-0.16.2-rc2/modules/em8300_main.o
/home/aw/em8300-0.16.2-rc2/modules/em8300_main.c: In function ‘em8300_init’:
/home/aw/em8300-0.16.2-rc2/modules/em8300_main.c:803: warning: implicit
declaration of function ‘pci_module_init’

and then

modprobe em8300
FATAL: Error inserting em8300
(/lib/modules/2.6.21-git5/em8300/em8300.ko): Unknown symbol in module,
or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
FATAL: Error running install command for em8300

em8300: Unknown symbol pci_module_init

0.16.2 is out

Hi,

I just released version 0.16.2 of the drivers. It is now time to start
gathering as much information as possible, so please have a look at your
/sys/class/em8300/em8300-0/device/model file, copy its content into a
new e-mail, fill in the included form, and send it to the specific list,
as explained in the end.

1) if you don't send me your data for your card, your card may be
unsupported in the upcoming releases of the driver
2) the more information you give, the better
3) the fewer "untested" you answer, the better
4) but if you are too lazy to test everything (although it only takes a
few minutes, I just did it), few information is still better that
   none

It's time to start flooding the -poll mailing-list!

Cheers,

Nicolas

PS: thanks to Adam, it is already known that things will have to be
fixed for 2.6.22... :-(

What about 2.4 based systems?

Since I think most people use 2.6 kernels, I thought that supporting
only 2.6 kernels would be sufficient to gather enough information to
support all cards. But if you wish, I can prepare and send you a patch
to add the relevant data to the /proc virtual filesystem.

Note that I still want to support 2.4 kernels, and that
autoconfiguration will (hopefully) work for both 2.4 and 2.6 kernels.

Cheers,

Nicolas
