X settings for 3.0-beta3, previously Urgent: Ubuntu's X settings

Hi :)

I guess this is something the developers list should take note off. If
somebody from the developers list should reply, please reply to the
users list and/or directly to me.

After I set the proprietary ATI driver without success, I tried
different xorg.conf settings for the VESA driver I used before and
couldn't get back a resolution of 1024x768. It's non-transparent were or
in which way the settings needs to be done. I tried different settings
for xorg.conf, all settings failed. I've got a backup of my 64 Studio,
but don't know which files I need to restore. Just restoring xorg.conf
fails. For me this is an attempt to make Linux become as non-transparent
as Windows, but Windows has got the advantage to work and not to fail
for issues like this, so transparency isn't needed from this point of
view. I don't know any other Linux distro that makes easy to do things
as complicated as Ubuntu does.

Do I need to restore the whole 64 Studio by my backup, just because the
proprietary ATI stuff failed? If this would happen for the Debian based
2.1, I only need to restore the xorg.conf and for doing this I even
don't need a backup of the xorg.conf.

That's excellent news, I'm really pleased this synth is being actively
developed again.

Cheers!

Re: Driver for Linux x86_64 Integrated/Motherboard Radeon Xpress 1250

*Hi Mario* :)

thank you for the quick reply. I guess I got your email, before I sent
my request ;). I'll use a search engine to get some knowhow and in
addition I'll ask the 64 Studio developers, if they can post a howto for
noobs to their homepage someday.

I hope it's okay that I also sent this private mail to the mailing
lists, to avoid mistakes by forwarding your information in my on words,
but on broken English.

Cheers,
Ralf

*Hi lists* :)

please read Mario's information, maybe this is something from interest
for the distro.

My requests are available here:

http://lists.64studio.com/pipermail/64studio-users/2009-August/003444.html

There's only a useful output in
/var/lib/dkms/fglrx/8.593/build/make.sh.log, but not in make.log.

Comment(by quentin@...):

This is working correctly in ardour 2.8.2

When ardour 2.8.2 or 2.8.3 (when released) could get added to the 64
Studio repositories, this ticket can be closed.

Hi Quentin,

> This is working correctly in ardour 2.8.2

Great! I had reported the bug upstream, so it's good to know the Ardour
team are responsive to these crashing bugs.

Yep, we definitely need this for 3.0.

Cheers!
