Welcome to this year's 47th issue of DWN, the weekly newsletter for
the Debian community. During the second [1]Bug Squashing Party for
sarge last weekend, several [2]release critical bugs were fixed. If
you want to replace another piece of proprietary software in your
computer, have a look at [3]LinuxBIOS. Thomas Bushnell [4]pointed
out that Matt Pavlovich ruled in the case of [5]Pavlovich vs.
DVD-CCA.

Coordinated Translation of Debconf Templates. Michael Bramer
[6]announced that the [7]Debian Description Translation Project
(DDTP) now supports coordination and translation of debconf templates
as well. [8]Here is a list of all packages for which DDTP contains
translated debconf templates that are not yet in the original package.
Another [9]page contains links to debconf templates of a particular
package for all languages.

Welcome to this year's 48th issue of DWN, the weekly newsletter for
the Debian community. Some [1]confusion was caused by a wildcard dns
record in the .org.com domain. A sleep-deprived James Treacy proudly
[2]announced the birth of his two daughters, Jacqueline and Claire.
People told him that he should get his life back in about 20 years.

Changing the Bug Submitter Address. Colin Watson [3]announced that
the [4]bug tracking system supports a new command to change the bug
submitter address. The old method, closing the bug and reopening it
with a different submitter address, is now deprecated. Instead there
is now a submitter command that can also use the address from the
From: or Reply-To: header. The address previously recorded as the
submitter will be notified of the change.

Additional TuxRacer Courses. Andreas Tille [5]reported that he has
[6]uploaded Debian packages of additional TuxRacer courses. The
packages do not yet meet the Debian quality requirements regarding the
necessary documentation but they work. Unfortunately, the license for

Welcome to this year's 49th issue of DWN, the weekly newsletter for
the Debian community. David Graham, leader of the [1]Open and Free
Technology Community (OFTC) which hosts several IRC channels for
Debian, [2]talks about how OFTC manages itself.

Is the Debian Project unmanageable? Recent discussions about the
[3]voting system of Debian lead David Welton to [4]ask [5]whether
the Debian project has reached a state where it is no longer
manageable. Maybe Debian needs to recognize that the power is already
in the hands of those who actually do things, and align the control
structures accordingly.

Online Browsing of Changelog and Copyright Files. Noèl Köthe
[6]started to extract changelog and copyright files of Debian
packages and placed them on a [7]webserver. This is something that is
currently missing from [8]packages.debian.org, however, it [9]should
be possible to use the lintian lab on gluck for this, now that lintian

verwaltet.

Kontrollstrukturen dementsprechend anpassen.

to the [2]Linux Conference Australia. Unfortunately, it takes place
at the same time as the [3]Debian Mini-Conf. The German

the Debian community. Many of you will probably be celebrating New
Year's Eve, whilst doing so take a moment to reflect on the past year:
What needs to be done in the Free Software community? Where would be
able to participate actively?

which means that this is also the 51st week of gathering information
on interesting activities of the Debian Project, writing items,
proofreading and translation. Even though the English version is
prepared only by a small group of people including one main editor,
many more people are involved before you can read the issue. Each
