Debian Project Leader Elections 2010: Call for nominations

Hi,

According to the constitution (5.2. Appointment), project
leader elections should begin "six weeks before the leadership
post becomes vacant, or (if it is too late already) immediately."

The new project leader term starts on Saturday the 17th of April,
2010. The time line looks like:

| Period | Start | End |
|------------+--------------------------+----------------------------|
| Nomination | Friday, March 5th, 2010 | Thursday, March 11th, 2010 |
| Campaign | Friday, March 12th, 2010 | Thursday, April 1st, 2010 |
| Vote | Friday, April 2th, 2010 | Thursday, April 15th, 2010 |

Prospective leaders should be familiar with the constitution, but
just to review: there's a one week period when interested
developers can nominate themselves and announce their platform,
followed by a three week period intended for campaigning, followed
by two weeks for the election itself.

I intend to collect platform statements from the candidates, and
publish them at http://www.debian.org/vote/2010/platforms/ at the
end of the nomination period, which means around March 12th.

I suggest that the candidates send the platform, preferably in
HTML, to the secretary at least a couple of days before the
publication date.

The format of the web page is open to discussion, but I suggest

I hereby nominate myself for the forthcoming DPL elections.
Platform will follow according to the schedule suggested by Kurt.

Cheers.

I think you mean "lather" (it means to wash with soap).

Absolutely. It was a honest yet nice typo, especially after people on
IRC followed-up with "leader, rinse, repeat" :-)

Yeah, but leathering (hitting hard with a belt as a punishment) may
also be an appropriate action for someone considering standing for
DPL! ;-)

Sorry, I'll get me goat...

Unless there is significant clamoring,[0] I once again will refrain
from running a Debate on IRC.[1]

0: Significant clamoring would probably involve someone stepping up
to help, too.

1: Considering that there's only one self nomination, and we're within
48 hours of the gate, this message may be moot, anyway.
