TEXLIVE 2011 PACKAGING: help with texlive-bin wanted

Hi everyone,

ok, I have started to bite the bullet and package the beast.
Here is the first call for HELP!!!!!

I have made a preliminary source package for texlive-bin that DOES NOT BUILD.
It is in principle about where make install puts files and where
dh_install moves them. It is *REALLY*SIMPLE* Debian packaging, it
only needs time to test it.

So please, if all those crying for "WE WANT TL2011" are ready to *HELP*,
here isthe first step: Get the package via
	dget http://people.debian.org/~preining/TeX/tl2011/texlive-bin_2011.20120202-0.1.dsc
and make it build so that we end up with 5 package:
	texlive-binaries
	libkpathsea6
	libkpathsea-dev
	libptexenc1
	libptexenc-dev
A bit of knowledge about shared libs etc would be nice.
I have a rules file that does the necessary configure make make install
thingy, one has only to care for the Debian packaging.

So, here we go, is there anyone out there?

Best wishes

Norbert

I update your package:
  http://www.gfd-dennou.org/member/uwabami/software/TeXLive/tl2011.git
  http://www.gfd-dennou.org/member/uwabami/software/TeXLive/texlive-bin_2011.20120202-0.1.dsc

# Sorry, I use git-buildpackage because our server does'nt provide WebDAV access.

As you mentioned, there are many lintian warnings.
Where do I commit many changes? Team SVN?

Best Wishes,

Many thanks for your work!!!

I have just started looking at your package when I received
Youhei Sasaki's email.

Well done Sasaki!
Maybe we can coordinate using Team SVN?

Kind regards,

I want to use Team SVN. What namespace should we use? texlive-bin?

Hello,

In the Team SVN there is already texlive2011/trunk/texlive-bin/, but I
joined the team around a week ago, so I would like to wait an OK from
Norbert before use it.

Cheers,

(are you all on the list? If yes, let us drop the To:)

Thanks for the help!!!

Thanks. But I am wondering *how* you build the package, because in
the rules file there is something strange:
	override_dh_intall:
	        dh_instal --sourcedir=$(CURDIR)/debian/tmp
Mind the *single* 'l' in dh_instal(l)! I fixed it.

One question we have to decide:
Currently (2009) we ship /usr/share/texmf and /usr/share/texmf-texlive
where the texmf-texlive serves as TEXMFDIST

In the preliminary package we ship /usr/share/texmf-dist instead

advantage: replaces are going to be much simpler ;-)
disadvantage: we change the name of this dir

What do you think is better?

Bug#658609: texlive-latex-extra: cooking.sty does not use recipeendhook, which is used by package option newpage

Package: texlive-latex-extra
Version: 2009-10
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

the file /usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex/cooking/cooking.sty seems to
contain a bug which renders one package option (newpage) useless.

The package option newpage is documented here:
/usr/share/doc/texlive-latex-extra-doc/latex/cooking/cooking.pdf

The documentation says: "There are two further package options controlling the
page breaks between recipes:
\usepackage[nopage]{cooking}
allows recipes anywhere on the page, whereas
\usepackage[newpage]{cooking}
forces a new page after each recipe. The latter is the default."

But this does not work as expected.

It looks like cooking.sty does define \recipeendhook, but does not use it, so
this simple patch resolves the problem:

$ diff cooking.sty.debian-orig cooking.sty
94c94
< \end{list}%

> \end{list}\recipeendhook%

Bug#658609: texlive-latex-extra: cooking.dtx patch

Hi,

I did not think about how Debian generates the file cooking.sty -- if it is
generated out of cooking.dtx, then there is no need to patch cooking.sty ...

So I took a look at the original cooking.dtx on CTAN, and there is already a
line with \recipeendhook included, but it is commented out. So by removing the
comment, an IMHO correct version of cooking.sty is generated.

Here the diff:
$ diff cooking.dtx cooking.dtx.orig
525c525
< \recipeendhook%
---
> % \recipeendhook

Hope you can include that.

With regards, Alex
