Bug#576354: sysv-rc update fails due to unpurged packages, purging them doesn't help

Package: sysv-rc
Version: 2.87dsf-10
Severity: normal

on configuration sysv-rc update complains that acpi-support has not
been purged when, in fact, it has been.

it may be that purging of acpi-support has some problem, but sysv-rc should
be checking the package database which would reflect that the package
has, in fact, been purged

This sound a bit like the problem reported in #575080. It include
information on how to recover if it is the same problem. Any clue
what happened to trigger your problem?

You can use the pkg-sysvinit-devel <at> lists.alioth.debian.org or report a
bug against sysv-rc if you want to discuss this issue. :)

Yes, we are getting rid of static sequence numbers, and there is thus
no need for more than two digit sequence numbers (at the moment
ordering all scripts in the archive require 01-29).

More info on the new system is available from

What exactly are you proposing? The message is based on the status
information provided by dpkg, and I have no idea what could be done to
improve the detection.

I guess you are the first one to test it on freebsd. :)
Someone will have to provide patches to solve it.

Reassigning to the package with the bootlogd binary.
