Debian bugs #600000 and #1000000 contest

(originally sent to -devel-announce....-publicity folks, that could
deserve an entry in the DPN, maybe?)

So far, we have quite few bets.

As a consequence, I will keep the bet wiki page opened up to December

Re: [DRAFT for REVIEW] New stable SuiteTelecentro 2.0

Hello, Jon
Thanks for your very good suggestions.
You could edit yourself the wiki page. The new proposed text is good.
Beyond the Felipe's msg, there are additional backgroud info and details
at or linked from the previous Debian Times article [0]
The SuiteTelecentro already benefitted more than 4 million low income
users at telecentres.
Maybe linking it with more emphasis could help the new text.
Regards.
Andre Felipe

Proposed item for DPN: Etch-and-a-half installation images updated

IMPORTANT NOTE
==============
D-I RC2 is scheduled to be released fairly soon. If that should happen
before the next DPN is released, this article should be updated!

Cheers,
FJP

Etch-and-a-half installation images updated
-------------------------------------------
As a result of the release on November 12 of the first release candidate
for Lenny of Debian Installer (D-I RC1), the installer images for
Etch-and-a-half have been updated as well.

Consequence of this update is that during installation of Etch-and-a-half
using the currently available images a newer kernel version (2.6.26) will
be used. However, the kernel used for the installed system remains
unchanged at version 2.6.24.

In some cases this can mean that hardware which is supported during the
installation does not work after the reboot into the installed system
because support for it was added after the 2.6.24 version.

Old Etch-and-a-half businesscard and netinst CD images remain usable.
Old netboot images are no longer usable and will need to be replaced with
a current image.

The Etch-and-a-half Debian Installer web page [1] has links to the new
images and also has links to the release announcements which give an
overview of changes in the installation system.

Please proof read the next issue of the DPN

Hi all,

if you have some free time (and are actually still/already up ;))
there's the next issue of the DPN up for proof reading at the usual
place (http://wiki.debian.org/ProjectNews/Issues/Current). We won't send
it out before tomorrow (Tue 02.12.2008) 10:00 am CET.

Best regards,
Meike

[ CC-ing you, as I'm not sure, if you follow -publicity ]

Many thanks for the very well written text! I took the liberty to re
wrap the lines a bit.

The DPN is scheduled to be released really soon. I'm just waiting for
the last proof reader to finish. So it seems we've beaten you ;)

Again thanks for your text!

Cool.

Please add an additional link to [0] at the first mention of
the "Etch-and-a-half" release.

Re: more content for times.d.n: developers interviews

Thanks, that was quick...

What is the process?

 * I think the interviews should be in their own
category. "people"? "interviews"?
 * Is simply mentioning the category in the header of the first article
enough to create it?
 * and speaking of creating the articles: The svn repo seems to be dead.
Are the articles just the files in /org/.../? (I saw the README)

I'd be happy for proofreading at least the first one, two articles (I'll do
an intro on the first.) I'll get back to you as soon as I actually have
the content.

cheers

This (some hw works during installation but not later) can be easily solved:
by installing 2.6.26 from backports.org :-)

Can someone please add this info to "Limitations:" section on
http://www.debian.org/releases/etch/etchnhalf ?!

Also it would be nice if that page could state what the right contract address
for it is, I assume it's not debian-www.
