Bug#330996: ksirc: dishighlight state is not restored

Package: ksirc
Version: 4:3.4.2-3
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

After joining channels /dishighlight is automatically switched off, i.e.
highlighting is enabled: *lol* becomes lol in bold. Although
/dishighlight mentions that the state will be saved.

Any chance of getting the fix for this included in the Debian packages?

I don't understand why a conditional dependency on jessie. Jessie could
be installed along with jdk1.4 and provides better security!

If jdk is a dependency, tomcat4 will not go to main.

No, jessie is a javax.net security provider, as saxon, gnujaxp, xerces

I didn't know that it would provide better security :)

Bug#328365: temporary file race in texindex

    I've adapted the OpenBSD stuff and created a patch. Maybe
    you want to look at it if this works.

Thanks for doing this.

In general, the OpenBSD code seems to be a couple versions back, as it
has K&R function definitions and omits a couple other changes I made
(quite) a while ago.

I wonder if you could start with the current texindex.c and make a patch
with only the mk*temp changes? I could separate it out from your patch
given time, but it will happen that much faster if you wouldn't mind
going that extra step.

The race-condition fix itself looks fine to me, although I admit I am
not especially expert at such things.

Thanks again,
Karl

Bug#331001: php5-gd: error in gd/gd.c : bad variable sizes for parse (cause data squish on 64 bits machines)

Package: php5-gd
Version: 5.0.5-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

  imagettftext is broken in php5-gd, but not in php4-gd on 64 machines
(amd64 here, but any machine where sizeof(long) != sizeof(int) is
affected).

  running a diff between two version shows that interesting part in
ext/gd/gd.c :

 <at>  <at>  -3017,8 +3109,7  <at>  <at>  static void php_imagettftext_common(INTE
 {
        zval *IM, *EXT = NULL;
        gdImagePtr im=NULL;
-       long col = -1, x = -1, y = -1;
-       int str_len, fontname_len, i, brect[8];
+       int col = -1, x = -1, y = -1, str_len, fontname_len, i,
	brect[8];
        double ptsize, angle;
        unsigned char *str = NULL, *fontname = NULL;
        char *error = NULL;

and a bit after, you have a zend parse :

        } else if (zend_parse_parameters(argc TSRMLS_CC, "rddlllss|a", &IM, &ptsize, &angle, &x, &y, &col,
&fontname, &fontname_len, &str, &str_len, &EXT) == FAILURE) {

prototype for variables x, y, col is clearly the 'lll' part, meaning that x, y and col have to be longs, not ints.

Bug#331000: several gnome-panel applets die on startup

Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.8.3-1
Severity: normal

When using kernel 2.4.27-2-686 from sarge, and starting with a fresh
gnome (ie a new user) logging into gnome works fine. If you logout
and do 'save session', then on subsequent logins the 'Show Desktop',
'Window Selector', 'Window List' and 'Workspace Switcher' applets all
die and have to be restarted. I tried removing gnome-volume-manager
from the session (since it needs hal which won't work with with 2.4
anyway), but it keeps happening. Do not have this problem with
2.6.8-2-386 debian kernel.

This may be related to 313219

Bug#330999: samba.postinst destroys smbpasswd if LDAP/NIS is down

Package: samba
Version: 3.0.14a-3
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

When upgrading from Debian Woody (with Samba 2.x) to Debian Sarge (with
Samba 3.x), /var/lib/dpkg/info/samba.postinst attempts to convert the
smbpasswd database to the new TDB format, with the following commands:

        umask 066
	pdbedit -i smbpasswd -e tdbsam
	rm /etc/samba/smbpasswd
	umask 022

Unfortunately if the user accounts are provided by, eg, LDAP (or NIS, or
some other external password database), and that password database is
down (due, eg, to being in the process of upgrading from Debian Woody
to Debian Sarge...) then there will be a large number of errors reported
of the form:

build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! username ewen with
uid 1024 is not in unix passwd database!

and the resulting TDB password database will contain few, if any, of
the original users because these are omitted since they're "missing"
(temporarily due to, eg, slapd being down).

samba.postinst then removes the original /etc/samba/smbpasswd file with
out making any backup copy or asking the user for permission to do so.
This prevents the administrator from rerunning the migration once the

Bug#319201: Fwd: kiax_0.8.4-3_i386.changes REJECTED

George,

It would appear that we need to do some more work on kiax before we can get it
accepted into the Debian archive.

We have setup a shared working enviroment at
http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-voip/kiax is you would like to help out
directly with the Debian package.

You can request an account at http://alioth.debian.org and then we can set you
up with svn commit access.
