Gnopernicus/gnome-speech for GNOME 2.6 in experimental

Hi.

As you probably know, the Debian GNOME team is currently working
on uploading the GNOME 2.6 release to Debian. To ease
transition, GNOME 2.6 packages currently only are uploaded to
the experimental distribution. I've now finally uploaded
gnome-speech and gnopernicus to experimental, with dependencies
on the GNOME 2.6 packages.
A more or less short test on my laptop did work fine,
which is a fairly good sign. However, if anyone of you here is
interested in giving this some more testing before it eventually
enteres unstable, do about the following:

Add a new deb line to your /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb ftp://your.mirror/debian/ ../project/experimental main

And execute the following commands:

apt-get update && apt-get install -t experimental gnopernicus

gnome-speech: Ship the `test-speech' program with a binary package

Package: gnome-speech
Severity: wishlist

Shaun Oliver <shaun.oliver <at> optusnet.com.au> writes:

the `test-speech' program is actually only targeted for the
source directory by upstream. It is not ment to be installed
on the system directly. However, since many people seem to want
to use this binary to verify that their configuration actually works,
it might be a good idea to ship `test-speech' with one of the
next binary package uploads. I will look into this as soon as I
can allocate enough time. In the meantime, if anyone wants to work on this,
IIRC the actual problem at hand is that `test-speech' links with
the libraries of the build-tree, not with the libraries installed on the
system (ugly libtool magic involved).

Some Makefile.am modifications will be necessary to link test-speech correctly.
Patches welcome.

Text interface of d-i beta4

Hi,

as you may know, debian-installer beta4 is out now.
The text interface has been deeply modified since beta3, but
there has been no feedback so far about its usability with
braille or speech devices. As we are near the final release,
it is time to test it, otherwise bugs won't get fixed.
Mario, are access images available somewhere?

Here are known problems about the text interface:
  * The language list on first screen is too long. This cannot easily
be fixed, suggestions are welcome. The attached file gives the
    full list (UTF-8 encoded).
  * Default value is printed on the last displayed line, it would be
better to add markers (e.g. "[*]") along with selected values when
    printing lists.

Please send your other complaints to debian-boot, or better file bugs
against cdebconf.
Thanks.
