The $ values sound good to me.
Where do I pay?

Excellent, thanks Terry. It's great to see those notes referenced to the
list less than an hour after the meeting finished!

Cheers :-)

Web Team Report

It's been a while since a Web Team report was submitted so this is the
first of what should be monthly reports on the activities pertaining to
the Linux Australia web site and other associated sites.

With regards to the Linux Australia site we are slowly getting to where
I believe it should be. I have started adding LUG Events again to the
Events calander which now allows visitors to pull a feed that keeps them
up to date with LUG meetings from around the country.

Thanks to efforts by Donna Benjamin, Sridhar Dhanapalan and others
involved with the LUG Communications Sub Committee, our User Groups
pages are being updated and cleaned up.

We are still pondering what else we can do with the site, and welcome
any suggestions.

This report has also been posted on the Linux Australia site:

Education Expo, Sydney, Sat 14 to Sun 15 June

Linux Australia and the Sydney Linux Users Group will once again have a stand
at the annual Education Expo[0] in Sydney, on Saturday 14 to Sunday 15 June.
We have a well-positioned stand this year, at co-ordinates F9[1].

Catering to students, parents, teachers and anyone else interested in K-12
education, the Education Expo is a great forum for promoting FOSS to the
educational and home sectors. Our presence has been very successful in
previous years, and we hope to replicate that.

We are looking for volunteers! Please get in touch with me if you have any
ideas, or if you would like to help out at the stand or with its preparation
beforehand.

Some of our plans for the show include:

* talking to visitors and answering questions
* handing out copies of Edubuntu and the OpenEducationDisc
* distributing leaflets with information about FOSS and education
* demonstrating Linux and FOSS on computers, and allowing people to have a go
* showcasing the OLPC XO laptops
* exhibiting the Asus Eee PC ultra-mobile laptops

Open Office training in NSW

Hi folks

If there are folks in NSW who are able to offer Ingots training or any
desktop training in open office (and converting docs between doc and
odf)
now would be a great time to get some courses brewing. Openoffice is
being installed in many NSW schools.
Training or support for the applications will be a useful thing to be
able to contribute/offer/sell.

xfig

Hi,

I am using xfig on my linux machine to draw diagrams. It's Ok, but I
am wondering if there are better tools (on Linux).

Thanks,

Perhaps 'Inkscape' is more what you are looking for?

Hi Janet,

We offer a range of courses in OpenOffice.org (training4linux
website) and I am also a qualified Ingots accessor. If you have any
particular schools or people who are interested, feel free to pass on
my details to them.

Regards
Jonathon
