selinux build dependency?

Are the selinux libraries a new build dependency for dmraid 1.0.0.rc9.  I am getting:

gcc -o dmraid dmraid.o commands.o toollib.o  -rdynamic -L../lib \
      -L/lib -ldmraid -ldevmapper -lselinux
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lselinux
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [dmraid] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/share/apt/src/dmraid/upstream/dmraid-1.0.0.rc9/tools'
make: *** [tools] Error 2

while trying to compile on debian sarge.

Re: selinux build dependency?

Colin,

we need that for Fedora builds.
Will make it configurable...
Create an empty selinux lib as a workaround.

Intel ICH7R + 4x SATA II + RAID 5 issue

Howdy all! I'm having an issue getting my DM-RAID system going. I need to set up my array for a RAID 5, but when it tries to activate my DM RAIDs i get the following error messages:

isw: suberblock found on /dev/sda, but version is too high
isw: suberblock found on /dev/sdb, but version is too high
isw: suberblock found on /dev/sdc, but version is too high
isw: suberblock found on /dev/sdd, but version is too high
No Software RAID disks

Can anyone tell me why I'm getting this or how I can fix it?
Thanx in advance

I have the same problem with my fastrak sx4 from promise. DM RAID doesn't support raid5 yet.

Ok. That's good to know. Do they announce fixes to stuff like that in this system?

ERROR: dos: reading /dev/mapper/sil_afagadcabbbj[No such file or directory]...

Hi,

I have asus mobo (A8n SLI Dlx) and I set up raid 10 using Sil3114 onboard
chip (4 80gig sata disks).
I have 2 partitions on that raid (1st dos and 2nd linux).
When I worked with dmraid 1.00.rc8 I had no problems and I could use both of
the partitions on the raid.
After I moved up to dmraid 1.00.rc9 I got the error - dos: reading
/dev/mapper/sil_afagadcabbbj[No such file or directory]

any suggestions? (beside going back to dmraid 1.00.rc8...)

thanks in advance.

Noam

Seems the device hasn't been assembled at all.

I don't know what's wrong, but I can offer a couple hints.
 - run dmraid with with a couple of -t's and -v's and copy/paste the
output to this list.
 - also include messages from DM - they'll unfortunately be stuffed
away in /var/log/messages.
 - DMRAID doesn't check that the DM version it's running on is proper
- check the README and upgrade to a proper version if yours is not
high enough.
 - if all else fails, send your disk metadata to this list.
 - switch away from Hotmail, it will s.... up your messages if you
write non-US-ASCII text, by failing to add a proper 'charset' tag in
the message headers (or encoding the message). As a bonus, you'll get
rid of the commercial pasted to the bottom of every one of your
messages. Ok, that was a bit off-topic, but anyway ;-).

You're seeing it because your softRAID controller is newer than the
one the dmraid author had available when he wrote the code for it.

If you can fix the code yourself, send a patch to the list.
Otherwise, you can help by sending the tar'ed and bzip2'ed metadata
files (*.dat and *.offset files) that "dmraid -rD" creates, in a file
named isw_ich7r-Josh_Lucy.tar.bz2.

Tom Michiels wrote:

Even when RAID5 is implemented, it is not going to work if dmraid does
not recognize your metadata. If you see the "superblock version too
high" message, you would be helping out by sending metadata :-). See
the procedure above - label the file as per the mentioned scheme, but
use the manufacturer and model number of your softRAID controller plus
your name so it can easily be traced to relevant conversation here.

You mean the mailing list?
New dmraid releases are announced here, yes.

Hi Chen,

we're integrating dmraid with anaconda which is scheduled for FC5.
Search the ataraid list archive for an interim solution.

dmraid and supermicro P4SCI 7210

Does anyone have this working with dmraid? I constantly get a no software
raid disks identified. Not sure is this is a dmraid or some other driver
that I should be using. I am trying to do this on a gentoo based system.

The P4SCI motherboard build with Intel ICH5R south bridge chipset controller
support SATA hard drive but firmware is Adaptec. The Adaptec had ASM
