Studio 64 Sound Problem

Hi Guys

Firstly I have to say what a fantastic acheivement the 1.0 release of 64 Studio is, simply brilliant.

I was having several problems with the beta version of 64 Studio which have all been resolved bar one, which I hope someone can help with.
When I am recording or playing live audio with Ardour or Rosegarden the sound occasionally goes crackly and fuzzy for a random amount of time on the playback channel. Sometimes it can be resolved by switching through the menu's with alt-tab but sometimes not.

My hardware is

HP Pavilion P4 2.0ghz
512mb Ram
Soundblaster Live Platinum
80gb Seagate Hard Disk

Can anyone shed a little light?

Thanks

Sam

That's nothing! If you play it forward, it'll install Windows XP.

Problems installing demudi testing and several questions to demudi

Hi,

I'm new on the list and I have several questions on using demudi and upgrading
from stabel (1.2.1) to testing (1.3)

A few month ago I installed successfully demudi 1.2.1. (Installing 1.3 from CD
failed) Since I experimented a little bit with demud 1.2.1 I wanted to
upgrade to 1.3 but this failed again and is stll impossible. I searched the
users-list archive and found several messages about similar issues
like "kernel-upgrade doesn't work" and similar. But never there was an answer
wich worked for me. For me there are allready problems by contacting the
server ;-)

An entry in my apt sources.list like
deb http://demudi.agnula.org/packages/demudi testing main
and even
deb http://demudi.agnula.org/packages/demudi stable main

gives me mostly error-messages that it's unpossible to contact the server.
Sometimes it works, but there are very less packages in the testing
repository, no kernel-image at all, no demudi-package, nothing.

Trying searching the demudi.agnula.org website and the list-archive I often
end on this site:

http://expired.revenuedirect.com/park.php?domain_name=AGNULA.ORG&site_id=20788

Something seems to be wrong. Who knows?

My questions:
* is Demudi still in an usable state?
* is there any possibility to install an Demudi-Testing Version?

I'm planing to install some audio-workstations for an local radio. Does it
make sense to use demudi? Is it still under development? Is there any
maintainer? On the agnula homepage there is written, that the project was
ended in 2004. But obviously there is some development, because the latest
changes where sometime in 2006.

Who has an anser for me?

best regards
luna

midi-triggering samples in terminatorx from rosegarden, note-offs not happening?

Hi,

I've been triggering a sample in terminatorX by associating a MIDI note on/off with terminatorX's
trigger/stop command. This works great with vkeybd - the sample plays as long as the key is held down, and
stops as soon as the key is released.

However when I record this in rosegarden, the note-off events seem to disappear. All the start triggers
play correctly but the sample continues playing (until another note-on trigger is encountered).

I've tried playing with things in the event editor to get a note-off to happen but I can't get it to work.. does
anyone have any advice on how to trigger/stop terminatorX from rosegarden?

Alternatively, I'd be appreciative in any tips on what tools people use for sample triggering.

I'm using Demudi 1.3 - I currently prefer it because there was a package not installed by default in 64Studio
- but I've got 64Studio on another partition, will play around there..

Thanks to all who have posted here, I'm listening with interest :)
cheers
Rua HM.

Status of Agnula/Demudi

Hi,

I'm just curious.  What is the status of Agnula/Demudi?  Is it really unmaintained?
I just recently found this distro and I really like it.  It's a great idea and made getting into Linux sound recording and manipulation about as easy as it could possibly be.

system upgrade documentation

Hi,

I was looking for the documentation how to do a proper upgrade of a DeMuDi
system for a friend of mine, but then encountered the problem that:

http://demudi.agnula.org/wiki/DocumentsFaq
http://demudi.agnula.org/wiki/InstallApt

don't work anymore...

nor does
http://demudi.agnula.org/

Where have they moved?

sincerely,
Marije

Good Studio System

I've been hired to help set up a recording studio.  They want to have a linux based workstaion for the music work.  Any suggestions on what they should have?  It needs to be pretty easy to setup.

Thanks,

Joseph Brower
