I found these wierd international phone sex lines in a magazine the
otherday and I was just wondering how these people can offer a service
like this for free. It makes no sence to me. Anyways it is pretty hardcore
and anyone into that type of stuff should give it a shout.

The six months that the SMTP extension RFCs need to sit at Proposed is now up. This note constitutes a call for implementations, reports of experience, and recommendations/requests for changes to the documents. I am aware of interoperability problems with several SMTP server implementations that were clearly broken; all of the ones I know about are in the process of being fixed. The one document change I'm aware of begin required has to do with the suggestion in RFC1425 that one should send EHLO and, if it is not recognized, send RSET before sending HELO. Several implementations have read RFC 821 in a way that yields a "command out of sequence" reply in that case, insisting on receiving HELO before receiving RSET. So it would probably be useful to change the document to advise ignoring whatever reply code is received after the RSET. Note that this does not change the protocol. --john ------------- IESG relationship statement, in case anyone cares: Erik and I have agreed, after a brief discussion, that he will see this through IESG after he returns from vacation in mid-September. I will act as WG chair emeritus, and not as AD, on this standard.

Report of implementation experience: I have implemented RFC 1425 and 1427 for two Sendmail variants, KJS and IDA. These updates are openly-available via anonymous FTP. I don't know how many people are running them. /mtr
