[ post by non-subscriber. with the massive amount of spam, it is easy to miss and therefore delete mis-posts. so fix subscription addresses! ] Without changing TCP functionally, that is its interface, I present a way to suffer a router outage seamlessly that is, to the degree all other standards are followed. Where the router switched to has functionality that is a superset of the one in outage, those parts of the equivalency set are carried over. Please review my document, I hope it is easily read and understood. The functionality has shown great promise in the lab. Please feel free to comment in whatever form. It is available at: http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-kilsdonk-router-upgrade-01.txt Thanks in Advance. Dan
