WG Doc Status Follow Up

Dear all,

In Montreal, we said WGLC would be issued shortly after the meeting for
some drafts and that other drafts would be sent to the IESG.

Reminder about Montreal meeting:
http://www3.ietf.org/proceedings/06jul/index.html
http://www3.ietf.org/proceedings/06jul/slides/nemo-0.pdf

This has not been done yet, so I will do it now. Please follow up on the
WGLC that will be issued for the multihoming and the NEMOv4 drafts. -

Thierry.

WGLC NEMOv4

Dear all,

Authors of
IPv4 Network Mobility (NEMO) Basic Support Protocol
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-nemo-v4-base-01.txt
have expressed confidence that the document is ready for a NEMO Working
Group Last Call.

So, please send your comment on the draft between now and the expiration
of this WGLC Sept 30. For each new issue you may raise, please pick up
a meaningful subject line bearing the prefix "WGLC NEMOv4: YOUR_TEXT".

Abstract:
This document describes the support of Mobile Networks, as defined in
Mobile IPv4, by the Mobile Router and Home Agent. A Mobile Router is
responsible for the mobility of one or more network segments or
subnets moving together. The Mobile Router hides its mobility from
the nodes on the mobile network. The nodes on the Mobile Network may
be fixed in relationship to the Mobile Router and may not have any
   mobility function.

Extensions to Mobile IPv4 are introduced to support Mobile Networks.

Thierry.

WGLC Multihoming Issues

Dear all,

Authors of
Analysis of Multihoming in Network Mobility Support
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-nemo-multihoming-issues-06.txt
have expressed confidence that the document is ready for a NEMO Working
Group Last Call.

So, please send your comment on the draft between now and the expiration
of this WGLC Sept 30. For each new issue you may raise, please pick up
a meaningful subject line bearing the prefix "WGLC Multihoming Issues:
YOUR_TEXT".

Abstract:
This document is an analysis of multihoming in the context of network
mobility (NEMO) in IPv6. As there are many situations in which
mobile networks may be multihomed, a taxonomy is proposed to classify
the possible configurations. The possible deployment scenarios of
multihomed mobile networks are described together with the associated
issues when network mobility is supported by RFC 3963 (NEMO Basic
Support). Recommendations are offered on how to address these
   issues.

For history purposes, the covered issues are listed and resolved on
http://www.mobilenetworks.org/nemo/draft-ietf-nemo-multihoming-issues/
so you may look at that page first before commenting.

Thanks Thierry for issuing this WGLC.

Let me add interoperability remarks on NEMOv4. The protocol is ready
for implementation and for interoperability tests. We have an internal
complete draft-01 NEMOv4 implementation derived from Dynamics, running
on linux MR and HA. We used WireShark protocol analyzer for development
(similar to Ethereal, see wireshark.org). The NEMOv4 WireShark
packet-mip.c is available upon request, which displays NEMOv4 packets
correctly.

For this implementation (and analyzer) we used the numbers in draft-00
document, and we really need the numbers assigned by IANA in order to
perform interoperability with other implementations.

Re: WG Doc Status Follow Up

Hi Thierry,

what about the terminology, requirements and DHCP based
prefix delegation drafts? all three seem to have expired.
the charter milestones say these documents should have
been sent to the IESG more than a year ago.

all these documents are important for NEMO basic support.

Re: WG Doc Status Follow Up

Hi Vijay,

Terminology and Requirements docs are still in my hand, so I need to
re-issue the docs and send them ASAP to IESG. Regarding the DHCP draft,
we need an update from the authors - and if it corresponds to our need a
WGLC can be issued.

Thierrry.

have they been last called? I don't remember.

there was WG consensus to progress this document a long
time ago.

Ralph, can you please re-submit draft-ietf-nemo-dhcpv6-pd?
it has expired.

Yes. Looonnnng time ago, indeed. I can re-issue a LC if someone is
concerned, though.

There was a consensus about the doc and some update to come, but the
update was not actually done.

Thanks,

I-D ACTION:draft-ietf-nemo-ro-space-analysis-03.txt

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.
This draft is a work item of the Network Mobility Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Network Mobility Route Optimization Solution Space Analysis
	Author(s)	: C. Ng, et al.
	Filename	: draft-ietf-nemo-ro-space-analysis-03.txt
	Pages : 43
	Date : 2006-9-18

With current Network Mobility (NEMO) Basic Support, all
communications to and from Mobile Network Nodes must go through the
MRHA tunnel when the mobile network is away. This results in
increased length of packet route and increased packet delay in most
cases. To overcome these limitations, one might have to turn to
Route Optimization (RO) for NEMO. This memo documents various types
of Route Optimization in NEMO, and explores the benefits and
tradeoffs in different aspects of NEMO Route Optimization.
