REMINDER: PW / VCCV User Implementation Survey

Folks, we still only have 6 responses to the VCCV User Survey.  Time is running out.  The deadline for submissions is February 25th.

It is important that we get as many participants as possible to ensure fair representation in any future PW Control Word and VCCV related work in the PWE3 working group.

Thanks,

Nick

=================================

All:

Per the direction of the PWE3 working group, beginning in IETF77 and reinforced in IETF78, the PWE3 working group is conducting a Service Provider implementation survey related to:

-          Pseudowire Encapsulations

-          Control Word Support

-          Control Word Use

-          VCCV Control Channel Support

-          VCCV Control Channel Use

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/pwe3

This is a short survey directed toward Service Providers who currently operate networks using any of the defined PWE3 encapsulations.  The results of this survey will be used to determine the direction of the Control Word support in current and future encapsulations as well as solutions to VCCV interoperability challenges.

We sincerely urge all service providers to participate.  We ask that all equipment providers encourage participation by their Service Provider customers.  The more feedback we receive, the better view of the existing network we can have on which to base going-forward direction.

If you have any questions, regarding the survey, especially of a technical nature, please contact me.  If you have non-technical questions, feel free to reach out to the PWE3 WG chairs and myself.

The results of the survey will be aggregated and shared at a high level.  No low-level details of network implementations will be shared.  All participant’s responses will remain private, if not anonymous.

All responses will require a valid email address to help ensure the survey’s validity.

Thanks,

Nick

The MPLS working group would like to like to rerquest that the ITU-T SG15
undertakes an early rview on:

"Multiprotocol Label Switching Transport Profile (MPLS-TP)
 MIB-based Management Overview"

draft-ietf-mpls-tp-mib-management-overview-02.txt

Since we intend to work the comments receive through this early review
into the documents that will be discussed at the IETF meeting in Prague
We would like to receive comments from the ITU-T by February 28, 2011.

Early review of two mpls working group documents

Working group,

this is to start a four week "early review" of

"Multiprotocol Label Switching Transport Profile (MPLS-TP)
  MIB-based Management Overview"

draft-ietf-mpls-tp-mib-management-overview-02.txt

and

"A Thesaurus for the Terminology used in Multiprotocol Label
  Switching Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) drafts/RFCs and ITU-T's
  Transport Network Recommendations."

draft-ietf-mpls-tp-rosetta-stone-03.txt

An "early review" is issued at a point when the document has matured
to a point where a consolidated review will help us moving the documents
into working group last call.

In order to address your comments in the document versions discussed at
the Prague meeting the comments should be sent to the mpls-tp list
February 28, 2011 the latest.

New working group document - draftt-he-mpls-tp-csf

Working Group,

the poll to accept draft-he-mpls-tp-csf-03.txt ("Indication of Client
Failure in MPLS-TP") concluded some time ago.

The poll gave a very clear indication of support for accepting the
the document as a MPLS Working Group document.

After the poll had concluded a discussion started where several
opinions were voiced, including that the document is not really needed.

However after discussing the topic the wg chairs has decided to accept
the draft as a working group draft, since the case where an LSP coming
in over an UNI and goes directly into the MPLS based Transport Network
without the PW adaptation is still valid and needs to be covered.

Could the authors please re-spin the draft as:

draft-ietf-mpls-tp-csf-00.txt

After that the draft needs to be re-worked to clearly focus on the
case described

   - the current document needs to be published as wg doc version -00
   - immediately after that a new version should be re-spun focusing
on the UNI case mentioned above and a new version (-01) has
     to be timely published

I-D Action:draft-ietf-mpls-ldp-upstream-10.txt

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Multiprotocol Label Switching Working Group of the IETF.

Title : MPLS Upstream Label Assignment for LDP
	Author(s) : R. Aggarwal, J. Le Roux

	Pages : 14
	Date : 2011-02-02

This document describes procedures for distributing upstream-assigned
labels for Label Distribution Protocol (LDP). It also describes how
these procedures can be used for avoiding branch Label Switching
Router (LSR) traffic replication on a LAN for LDP point-to-multipoint
(P2MP) Label Switched Paths (LSPs).

Upcoming reviews and working group last calls

Working Group,

we are now in a situation there a number of documents from the
mpls-tp project are ready to be working group last called,
early reviewed or reviewed by external parties.

Since there are strong interdependencies between these
document we have come to the conclusion that rather than do
a number of two week consecutive last call or review we
want to allocate a four week period (ending approx February 28)
to review and last call a number of documents. Still a bit
unclear how many.

You have seen the call for early review of the Rosetta Stone
and the Management Overview documents.

You will later today see working group last calls for the Linear
Protection and the Fault Signaling documents. We have good hope
that we also will be able to include the Proactive CC and CV
document in this.

It is possible that we will include further documents.

The reviews and last call are important, and even though we do
this to able progress documents smoothly please note that we
still need to take care to get good reviews.
