Re: four potential new working group documents

All,

we have a good support to make three documents as working
group documents. Note that we've already accepted the fourth.

Could the authors please republish the documents as:

draft-ietf-mpls-3209-patherr

draft-ietf-mpls-p2mp-te-bypass

draft-ietf-mpls-ldp-capabilities

Liaison - Progress on G.8110.1 Amendment

To PWE3 WG:

I have been looking at the ITU SG15 Q12 Liaison Progress on G.8110.1
Amendment

https://datatracker.ietf.org/public/liaison_detail.cgi?detail_id=312

Here are my first thoughts on a response - which will of course be
dressed up before they are formally sent out :)

Does anyone have any comments on these thoughts, or any other comments
that we should make as a WG?

- Stewart

Section 3.5 Transport MPLS definition

Should be amended to make it clear TMPLS is a true subset of IETF PWE3
over MPLS and that in the case of any differences, the IETF definition
is considered the Normative definition.

Section 4.7.2 and A.3

The PWE3 WG is concerned that the OAM is not based on VCCV. Any true
subset of the IETF PWE3/MPLS design should allow the use of the IETF
preferred OAM mechanism. This does not preclude the ITU specifying an
additional mechanism as an optional extension to enhance VCCV, although
it would be preferable for the ITU to work with the IETF to enhance VCCV
to provide the additional OAM mechanisms that are needed.

RE: [PWE3] Liaison - Progress on G.8110.1 Amendment

Stewart,

thanks for reviewing the draft. I will come with some comments later.

However, I would like to start clarifying a point regarding appendix V in order
to avoid misunderstanding.

Appendix V is aligned with the current IETF WG drafts. The intent of the note at
the beginning of the appendix is to signal that this appendix will be reviewed
when these WG drafts are published as RFCs to keep the alighment with the IETF
work.

ITU-T has developed this appendix to address MFA Forum comments (that IETF PWE3
shared) asking for adding to the previous draft more detailed information and
making very clear that the p2mp LSP support is in line with the current IETF WG
drafts.

I think it would be good to double check the alignment of appendix V with the
current IETF WG drafts.

According to me they are aligned.

Thanks, Italo

Call for Proposals: MPLS & Ethernet World Congress Paris 2008

The 10th anniversary of MPLS & Ethernet World will occur in Paris next
February 5 to 8, 2008. The aim of the event is to demonstrate the way
carriers will be able to use Ethernet and MPLS efficiently: where they
compete and where they complement each other.

Particular attention will be paid this year to Packet Transport
(T-MPLS/PBT/MPLS), Multicast and Inter-Provider issues. Wireless network
architectures will also be covered in detail.

The second edition of the Carrier Ethernet Worshop will discuss
technological and implementation detailed issues in parallel with the
traditional MPLS Tutorial addressed by the MFA. The workshop will be
addressed by the MEF ambassadors for the standardization process review.

The CFP is effective until June 15, 2007 at:

I-D ACTION:draft-ietf-mpls-p2mp-te-bypass-00.txt

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.
This draft is a work item of the Multiprotocol Label Switching Working Group of the IETF.

Title : P2MP MPLS-TE Fast Reroute with P2MP Bypass Tunnels
	Author(s)	: J. Le Roux, et al.
	Filename	: draft-ietf-mpls-p2mp-te-bypass-00.txt
	Pages : 11
	Date : 2007-5-10

This document defines procedures for fast reroute protection of
Point-To-MultiPoint (P2MP) Traffic Engineering Label Switched Paths
(TE-LSP) in MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks, based
upon Point-To-MultiPoint bypass tunnels. The motivation for using
P2MP bypass tunnels is to avoid potentially expensive data
duplication along the backup path that could occur if point-to-point
bypass tunnels where used, i.e. to optimize the bandwidth usage,
during fast reroute protection of a link or a node. During link or
node failure the traffic carried onto a protected P2MP TE-LSP is
tunnelled within one or several P2MP bypass tunnels towards a set of
Merge Points. To avoid data duplication backup labels (i.e. inner
labels) are assigned by the Point of Local Repair (PLR) following the
   RSVP-TE upstream label assignment procedure.

The LDP specification [RFC3036] for the Wildcard FEC element has
several deficiencies. This document corrects those deficiencies. In

The new draft draft-ietf-mpls-ldp-typed-wildcard-01 integrates responses
to the comments made during the working group last call on the working
group draft "LDP Typed Wildcard FEC" (see copy of Loa's message below).

The only comments were made by Eduard Metz. Thanks Eduard.

The attachment is a copy of draft-ietf-mpls-ldp-typed-wildcard-01 with
change marks (search for ***) that identify the changes in version 01

Protocol Action: 'ICMP Extensions for MultiProtocol Label Switching' to Proposed Standard

The IESG has approved the following document:

- 'ICMP Extensions for MultiProtocol Label Switching '
   <draft-ietf-mpls-icmp-08.txt> as a Proposed Standard

This document is the product of the Multiprotocol Label Switching Working
Group.

The IESG contact persons are Ross Callon and David Ward.

A URL of this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-mpls-icmp-08.txt

Technical Summary

This document defines an extension object that can be appended to
selected multi-part ICMP messages. This extension permits Label
Switching Routers to append MPLS information to ICMP messages.

Working Group Summary

   No Dissent reported.

Protocol Quality

Ross Callon has reviewed the spec for the IESG. The extension is
implemented and widely deployed. Ron Bonica is co-author.
