[MEXT] DMM WG mailing list moving from mext <at> ietf.org to dmm <at> ietf.org

Folks,

Effective immediately the DMM WG mailing list has been moved from the
mext <at> ietf.org list to the dmm <at> ietf.org. This changed had been
requested by a number of folks and the chairs believed it would be
more consistent to implement it.

We have also mass-subscribed all the mext <at> ietf.org subscribers to
dmm <at> ietf.org to make the change as seamless as possible. Please take
some time to verify that your subscription to dmm <at> ietf.org is
effective.

From now on, please post messages to dmm <at> ietf.org. The old
mext <at> ietf.org mailing list will be closed and the message archive will
remain available online.

Thank you.

[MEXT] Workshop MoCrySEn 2012 - CfP (to be held in conjunction with ARES 2012)

Call for Papers

The First International Workshop on Modern Cryptography and Security Engineering

(MoCrySEn 2012)

http://www.ares-conference.eu/conf/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=65&Itemid=120

University of Economics, Prague
August 20th-24th, 2012

To be held in conjunction with the 7th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security (ARES 2012 – http://www.ares-conference.eu).

Overview

The First International Workshop on Modern Cryptography and Security Engineering  (co-located with the International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security)  aims to bring together researchers working in theoretical aspects of modern cryptography (including but not restricted to design and analysis of symmetric-key primitives and cryptosystems, block and stream ciphers, hash functions and MAC algorithms, efficient implementations and analysis of code-based cryptosystems, threshold schemes) with professionals working on applied aspects of security engineering, particularly people involved in standardization and in industrial deployment of cryptography (encryption schemes for databases and related security, cryptography in wireless applications, hardware for cryptanalysis, FPGA and smart cards security). The main goal of the workshop is to strengthen the dialogue between these two groups, which is currently perceived to be weak. Ultimately, we aim to make a start on bridging the gap between what academic cryptographers believe should be the goals of cryptographic design and what is actually implemented in the real world. MoCrySEn intends to provide a better understanding of real-world cryptographic issues to the theoretical community, helping to inform their research and set new research challenges for the theoretical community and enable practitioners to develop a clearer view of the current state-of-the-art in cryptographic research and what it offers to practitioners.

[MEXT] Workshop WSDF 2012 - CfP (to be held in conjunction with ARES 2012)

Call for Papers

The Fifth International Workshop on Digital Forensics (WSDF 12)

http://www.ares-conference.eu/conf/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49&Itemid=95

University of Economics in Prague, Czech Republic

August 20th – 24th, 2012

To be held in conjunction with the 7th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security (ARES 2012 – http://www.ares-conference.eu).

Workshop:

Digital forensics is a rapidly evolving field primarily focused on the extraction, preservation and analysis of digital evidence obtained from electronic devices in a manner that is legally acceptable. Research into new methodologies tools and techniques within this domain is necessitated by an ever-increasing dependency on tightly interconnected, complex and pervasive computer systems and networks. The ubiquitous nature of our digital lifestyle presents many avenues for the potential misuse of electronic devices in crimes that directly involve, or are facilitated by, these technologies. The aim of digital forensics is to produce outputs that can help investigators ascertain the overall state of a system. This includes any events that have occurred within the system and entities that have interacted with that system. Due care has to be taken in the identification, collection, archiving, maintenance, handling and analysis of digital evidence in order to prevent damage to data integrity. Such issues combined with the constant evolution of technology provide a large scope of digital forensic research.
WSDF aims to bring together experts from academia, industry, government and law enforcement who are interested in advancing the state of the art in digital forensics by exchanging their knowledge, results, ideas and experiences. The aim of the workshop is to provide a relaxed atmosphere that promotes discussion and free exchange of ideas while providing a sound academic backing.
The focus of this workshop is not only restricted to digital forensics in the investigation of crime. It also addresses security applications such as automated log analysis, forensic aspects of fraud prevention and investigation, policy and governance.

[MEXT] Last Call: <draft-ietf-mext-mip6-tls-03.txt> (Transport Layer Security-based Mobile IPv6 Security Framework for Mobile Node to Home Agent Communication) to Experimental RFC

The IESG has received a request from the Distributed Mobility Management
WG (dmm) to consider the following document:
- 'Transport Layer Security-based Mobile IPv6 Security Framework for
Mobile Node to Home Agent Communication'
  <draft-ietf-mext-mip6-tls-03.txt> as an Experimental RFC

The IESG plans to make a decision in the next few weeks, and solicits
final comments on this action. Please send substantive comments to the
ietf <at> ietf.org mailing lists by 2012-02-29. Exceptionally, comments may be
sent to iesg <at> ietf.org instead. In either case, please retain the
beginning of the Subject line to allow automated sorting.

Abstract

Mobile IPv6 signaling between a mobile node and its home agent is
secured using IPsec. The security association between a mobile node
and the home agent is established using IKEv1 or IKEv2. The security
model specified for Mobile IPv6, which relies on IKE/IPsec, requires
interaction between the Mobile IPv6 protocol component and the IKE/
IPsec module of the IP stack. This document proposes an alternate
security framework for Mobile IPv6 and Dual-Stack Mobile IPv6, which
relies on Transport Layer Security for establishing keying material
and other bootstrapping parameters required to protect Mobile IPv6
signaling and data traffic between the mobile node and home agent.

The file can be obtained via
http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-mext-mip6-tls/

IESG discussion can be tracked via

No IPR declarations have been submitted directly on this I-D.
