Re: IETF-73 Call For Agenda Topics - Proposed Agenda

So I'm working on trimming down a TRILL presentation I have and adding some material on the Hello/LSP data needed.

TRILL overview would be great as well. I think the PDU, etc requirements will be clear in the tech presentation but, why they are requirements is missing.

Thanks

I can informationally present the IS-IS LSP and Hello data

This draft isn't a WG document yet so, we'd prefer that you present TRILL
functional requirements and the problem to be solved. The ISIS WG hasn't had
an intro to TRILL yet. We can figure out how to handle the data and
description in

http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-eastlake-trill-rbridge-isis-01

and ward-l2isis (which are the protocol specifics only)

Thanks

Hi,

In conjunction with draft-ward-l2isis, perhaps
draft-eastlake-trill-isis could also be discussed.

Thanks,
Donald

FYI WG last call on draft-trill-rbridge-protocol-10.txt

Since TRILL uses IS-IS this is relevant to the ISIS WG.

-------- Original Message --------
Subject: [rbridge] WG last call on draft-trill-rbridge-protocol-10.txt
Date: Fri, 07 Nov 2008 08:48:07 -0800
From: Erik Nordmark <erik.nordmark <at> sun.com>

This message begins a working group last call on
draft-ietf-trill-rbridge-protocol-10.txt. Because of the size of the
document, it will run for three weeks until Wednesday, November 26th.

There are three issues in connection with this draft that you may wish
to note:
    1. A method of doing VLAN mapping was discussed on the working
group mailing list. This protocol draft is compatible with that method
which has been written up in
draft-perlman-trill-rbridge-vlan-mapping-00. This separate draft could
be considered for adoption as a working group draft and be progressed
separately or it could be considered as material to add to the
protocol draft, perhaps as an appendix.
    2. The protocol draft does incorporate a change in the
encapsulation of TRILL IS-IS frames (they are no longer encapsulated
but are always sent to a different multicast address) and a minor
change in the encapsulation of TRILL ESADI frames (they have a
different new inner multicast address). There was discussion of this
on the mailing list but sufficiently little that it was hard to gauge
working group opinion.
    3. There was discussion on the mailing list of alternatives for
distribution tree root selection and announcement but no changes along
these lines were made in the draft.

At least items 1 and 3 above are expected to be discussed at the
working group meeting in Minneapolis. Should those discussions result in
any changes to the base draft then we will separately last call those
changes.

I-D ACTION:draft-ietf-isis-hmac-sha-07.txt

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.
This draft is a work item of the IS-IS for IP Internets Working Group of the IETF.

Title : IS-IS Generic Cryptographic Authentication
	Author(s)	: M. Bhatia
	Filename	: draft-ietf-isis-hmac-sha-07.txt
	Pages : 12
	Date : 2008-11-18

This document proposes an extension to Intermediate System to
Intermediate System (IS-IS) to allow the use of any cryptographic
authentication algorithm in addition to the already documented
authentication schemes, described in the base specification and RFC
5304. IS-IS is specified in International Standards Organization
(ISO) 10589, with extensions to support Internet Protocol version 4
   (IPv4) described in RFC 1195.

Although this document has been written specifically for using the
Hashed Message Authentication Code (HMAC) construct along with the
Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA) family of cryptographic hash functions,
the method described in this document is generic and can be used to
extend IS-IS to support any cryptographic hash function in the
   future.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the IS-IS for IP Internets Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Simplified Extension of LSP Space for IS-IS
	Author(s) : L. Ginsberg, et al.

	Pages : 16
	Date : 2008-11-18

This draft describes a simplified method for extending the LSP space
beyond the 256 Link State PDU (LSP) limit defined in [IS-IS]. This
method is intended as a preferred replacement for the method defined
in [RFC 3786].
