PWG-ANNOUNCE> TENTATIVE January schedule

I've included a TENTATIVE January schedule for your review and comment. It looks like a fairly packed schedule developing! The transition between PWG and collocated TCG/P2600 groups will be Wednesday (Noon). We will lock schedule this by Tuesday or Wednesday so people can shop for 30 day advance tickets.

Monday Morning Jan-10
 PWG Web-based Imaging Management Services
Monday Afternoon
  Counter Semantics
Tuesday Morning
PWG Printer Port Monitor MIB (in response to request initiated by Microsoft)
  Semantic Model process
Tuesday Afternoon
PWG Micro Job Ticket and Transform Services Interface Proposals
Print Services Interface - Last Call completion
Tuesday Evening (appx 5pm to 7pm)
"Print Number" BOF (call for interest in document management/print scheme for Internet printing)
Wednesday Morning
  PWG Plenary
Wednesday Afternoon
  TCG Hardcopy Security
Thursday/Friday
IEEE P2600 Hardcopy Device & Systems Security

I had several requests for schedule alignment, all of which I could not accommodate. This is my best curve fit for now. At this point, the Tuesday evening BOF is very tentative. Details will precede the BOF if it is to occur.

PWG-ANNOUNCE>

There are 2 changes to the January agenda which result in an adjustment to the tentative schedule.
1. There will be no TCG f2f in January. TCG will consider alignment with future PWG meetings.
2. There will be no "Print-Number" BOF, per-se, as the "Print-Number" champion cannot travel in this timeframe.
  - A short intro to print-number will occur during the PWG Plenary. ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/general/proposals/PrintNumberSystem/AnIdeaOfInternetPrinting.pdf

This results in the following tentative January schedule. I will let this float through Tuesday and LOCK THE SCHEDULE with a final confirmation note Wednesday.
This is your opportunity to review and comment on the January agenda and schedule. We're squeezing quite a bit into Wednesday but several of the topics are short or may not materialize. I prefer to work into Wednesday evening, if necessary, and leave Monday open for travel and other business.

5-9.

Oi,

perhaps some of you remember the Printing Summit this year in Bordeaux
or at least my invitation.

Next year the organizers of the Libre Software Meeting in France invited
me again to hold a Printing Summit at the place and time given above.

This should be again a meeting of leading developers on the area of
printing with free software where further development can be discussed
and plans and results can be presented to the participants of the LSM.

People from important free software projects, from Linux (and other OS)
distributions, and from printer manufacturers are supposed to come.

Subjects to be worked on are printer drivers, spooler technology,
network printing, device independent print data formats, desktop
publishing, fonts, and so on. We also have enough time to plan on what
we will do on these five days.

At first I want to ask you whether you are interested in participating.
As this year, we will have the possibility to finance the travel for at
least some of the participants.

I am asking you that early, as this year some people could not come
because they had already planned their summer vacations in the christmas
holidays.

Please reply to this mail using the "Reply to all" function, so that it
goes to the mailing list. Please post also every suggestion to the list.
The address is lsm-printing <at> linuxprinting.org

If you are not interested at all and want to unsubscribe therefore, or
simply want to configure your mailing list account, go to

http://www.linuxprinting.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lsm-printing

If you didn't get a password or if you forgot it, use the password
reminder facility on that page at first. Please stay subscribed if you
are interested in participating, as all info, discussion, and
organization will go through this list. Note that the list is
spam-protected and therefore you can only post if you are subscribed.

Yves, thanks for your interest in participation at the Printing Summit.
Below you find the info which you have asked for. Updates will be given
on this list.

By the way, we are grateful for hardware loans during the event
(printers, MF devices, ...) and also for sponsoring of the Printing
Summit (for example traveling expenses of free software developers).

The event will take place in the

Université de Bourgogne

1 esplanade Erasme
21078 DIJON CEDEX BP 2787
France

+33-3-80 39 50 00

Address determined by www.pagesjaunes.fr, I don't know yet which
department of the university will host the LSM.

From Bruxelles you get there in around 4 hours by high-speed trains
(example of connection from www.sncf.com, one way around 107 EUR 2nd class):

BRUXELLES MIDI 08h10 THALYS 9310
PARIS NORD 09h35

PARIS GARE DE LYON 10h34 TGV 6759
DIJON VILLE 12h11

There will also be accomodation in students dorms, if a low-budget
accomodation is needed.

There is no official site for the 2005 edition of the LSM yet.

The 2004 site is http://lsm.abul.org/

There is already an organization site with WIKI available (in french):

Info about LSM, who is organizing it, sponsoring, ...
http://tarek.zopedirectory.com/wiki/PageDaccueil

Documents, especially read the report "Compte rendu réunion 31/07/2004
format PDF" to know more about the LSM organization
http://tarek.zopedirectory.com/documents

The WIKI section about the Printing Summit (will be in English as soon
as I start to use it):
ttp://tarek.zopedirectory.com/wiki/PrintingSummit

There is also this mailing list:

http://www.linuxprinting.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lsm-printing

and its archives

http://linuxprinting.org/pipermail/lsm-printing/

which contain also the organization of the 2004 edition.
