Greetings All,

The PWG Registration page is now available at
https://www.ieee-isto.org/pwg/registration.html. Please register to attend
the upcoming May 24-27, 2004 meetings in Vancouver, BC.

There is a daily attendance fee of US$55.00. (Payments are processed on the
first day of the meeting series.)  This fee is to cover food/beverage and
meeting accomodations at the Delta Suites.

IPP> I am back

Hi all,

I am back from my rather long trip to Japan, plus weeks of catching up on
email and other stuff from while I was away.

I know that there has been some further discussion about the possible
progression of our remaining IPP drafts while I was away so I would like to
get updated on where you think we stand at the moment.

BTW, I am getting a number of return messages about trying to send virus
messages to the IPP DL. I can assure that these messages don't come from me
or my computer, which is using the latest and greatest in virus and spam
control software.
There are apparently people who have figured out that if they fake the
sender address of a valid DL member, their messages will bypass the DL
verification mechanism. It seems that we need to get all messages checked
for virus before the messages are distributed. Hope our DL administrator at
Lexmark can take on that task.

Hi Carl-Uno,

The latest status of these specs for IETF 'standards
track' is:

* IPP Admin Operations
  - Harry Lewis will edit for Security Considerations
    (and other necessary current RFC/I-D style stuff)

* IPP Notifications and Subscriptions
  - Bob Herriot will edit for security and requested
    additional common Printer and Job events from the
    PWG PSI (Print Services Interface) and PWG IPPFAX
    (realtime fax over IPP w/ TLS) project teams

* IPPGET Notification Delivery Method
  - Bob Herriot will also edit for security and style

[In a related effort, the IEEE PWG has decided to copy
the event names/definitions from the IETF spec above
and advance them quickly as an IEEE PWG 'dictionary'
spec called 'PWG Standardized Imaging System Events'.

This work is needed in the next few months to complete
work on the WSDL files for PSI/1.0 and continue work
on the PWG WIMS (Web-based Imaging Management Services)
project.]

Ira,

Thanks for the update.

Do we have a schedule for when we can expect the new drafts to be finished?

July 19 is the final date for issuing drafts to the August 1-6 IETF meeting
in San Diego.

Is there enough interest to hold an IPP WG session in that IETF meeting?

At least it is in a fairly close location to where many of of the active
IPPers live.

PWG-ANNOUNCE> PWG Last Call - Charter of WIMS working Group

Greetings:

At the last face  to  face  meetings  in  April,  it was decided  to  modify the scope  of the WBMM  charter to  better
reflect what the group has been  doing, and to change the name  of the group  to  Web-based  Imaging Management 
System (WIMS) to avoid  possible confusion  of WBMM   with WBEM,  a separate group with an overlapping
interest area.  A revised  charter  draft  has   been  generated and, following the  current  PWG process
document, is  hereby put  up  for  PWG  last call  in  accord   with the formal approval procedures. This last call
is to end at the PWG Plenary meeting  in Vancouver.

The draft charter  is  at:

It reflects  both  an increase  in scope  to include  interest in all imaging equipment   management aspects, and 
a  decrease  in specificity. Objective dates   have been readjusted,  although the  date of  first draft  of  the
specification  ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/wbmm/wd/wd-wbmm01-20031121.pdf,   is  referenced.

Please  direct questions  and  comments on the draft   to the  WBMM   list, wbmm <at> pwg.org.  Please  do  NOT send 
comments  on the   pwg-announce list. A  new mailing list will be  made up when the charter is approved; until
then,   we will use the WBMM  list.
