I-D ACTION:draft-ietf-fax-gateway-options-08.txt

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Internet Fax Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Guideline of optional services for Internet FAX Gateway
	Author(s)	: K. Mimura, et al.
	Filename	: draft-ietf-fax-gateway-options-08.txt
	Pages : 9
	Date : 2005-2-2

To allow connectivity between the general switched telephone network
facsimile service (GSTN fax) and the e-mail based Internet Fax
service (i-fax) an "Internet FAX Gateway" is required. This document
provides guidelines for the optional functionality of Internet FAX
Gateways. In this context, an "offramp gateway" provides facsimile
data transmission from i-fax to GSTN fax; viceversa an "onramp
gateway" provides data transmission form GSTN fax to i-fax. The
recommendations in this document apply to the integrated service
including Internet Fax terminals, computers with i-fax software on
the Internet, and GSTN Fax terminals on the GSTN.

Internet FAX WG - we are FINALLY done!

Hallo all,

IESG has approved our last two pending documents! (the fax-gateway
specifications).

Thus we finally ended the work on our charter. It was a long, complex run,
but we made it!

I would like to thank all of you for all your work, contribution, efforts,
and patience for reviewing (often many times!) our draft documents.

And a particolar thank you also to our previous WG chairs, Dave and James,
which started the long path.

I think you will see in some time the official announcement of the WG
closure, but we will remain the reference point for all internet fax
related topics with our mailing list.

Cheers !!

Re: Internet FAX WG - we are FINALLY done!

Dear Colleagues,

As Claudio already said, we have finished all the work.
Let me say a little.

We can pe proud of our work itself, I believe.
We have made 27 RFCs, including 6 Draft Standards.
Although there are lots of dead I-Ds, I think most of them are reflected
in the RFCs in some ways.

Also, I would like to say we gave a good influence on ITU-T activities.

> I would like to thank all of you for all your work, contribution, efforts,
> and patience for reviewing (often many times!) our draft documents.

Yes, without the efforts by all of you, we could not have achieved our goals.

> And a particolar thank you also to our previous WG chairs, Dave and James,
> which started the long path.

Yes, I thank Dave and James very much.

Please note that our ML remains active. IMC allow us to keep it.

Again, thanks all of you.

Best regards,
