This specification provides for "simple mode" carriage of facsimile
data using Internet mail. Extensions to this document will follow.
The current specification employs standard protocols and file formats
such as TCP/IP, Internet mail protocols, Multipurpose Internet Mail
Extensions (MIME), and Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) for Facsimile.
It can send images not only to other Internet-aware facsimile devices
but also to Internet-native systems, such as PCs with common email
readers which can handle MIME mail and TIFF for Facsimile data. The
specification facilitates communication among existing facsimile
devices, Internet mail agents, and the gateways which connect them.

It has taken long, long time.
Anyway, thanks for contributing the documents.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Internet Fax Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Full-mode Fax Profile for Internet Mail: FFPIM
	Author(s)	: D. Crocker, G. Klyne
	Filename	: draft-ietf-fax-ffpim-07.txt
	Pages : 10
	Date : 2004-12-15

Classic facsimile document exchange represents both a set of
technical specifications and a class of service.Ã Previous work has
replicated some of that service class as a profile within Internet
mail. The current specification defines "full mode" carriage of
facsimile data over the Internet, building upon that previous work
and adding the remaining functionality necessary for achieving
reliability and capability negotiation for Internet mail, on a par
with classic T.30 facsimile. These additional features are designed
to provide the highest level of interoperability with the
standards-compliant email infrastructure and mail user agents, while
providing a level of service that approximates what is currently
   enjoyed by fax users.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Internet Fax Working Group of the IETF.

Title : SMTP and MIME Extensions For Content Conversion
	Author(s)	: K. Toyoda, D. Crocker
	Filename	: draft-ietf-fax-esmtp-conneg-12.txt
	Pages : 17

A message originator sometimes sends content in a form
the recipient cannot process. Such content needs to be
converted to a related form, with the same or with
restricted information, such as changing from color to
black and white. In a store-and-forward environment,
it can be convenient to have this conversion performed
by an intermediary. This specification integrates two
ESMTP extensions and three MIME content-types, to
permit authorized, accountable content form conversion
by intermediaries.

recent drafts

folks,

just so folks are not spending their precious holiday time wondering about the announcements new internet drafts:

i think we are in the final stages of getting the IESG to approve the documents. the changes respond to some
concerns they have expressed about clarity and completeness of some discussion points.

no normative changes have been made.
