This memo defines a portion of the Management Information Base (MIB)
for use with network management protocols in the Internet community.
In particular, it describes extensions to the Entity MIB to
provide information about the state of physical entities.

In addition, this memo defines a set of Textual Conventions to
represent various states of an entity. The intent is that these
Textual Conventions will be imported and used in MIB modules that
would otherwise define their own representations.

This document is a product of the Entity MIB Working Group of the
IETF.

RE: Entity Management and Dual IP Stack

hi

Are you saying it has two IP addresses, or supports both Ipv4/IPv6 or
that it is two logical devices (virtual router, etc)? In the first two
cases you only have one logical devices from the Entity MIB's
perspective.

Subject: [Entmib] Entity Management and Dual IP Stack

I have a question,

For an entity with 2+ logical entities (implements entLogicalTable) How
do you define the logical entity if the device has dual stack and is
manageable using both IPs ?
Shall it defines a duplicate logical entity for the second
entLogicalTAddress?

I mean, in the interest of reflecting entLogicalTable entries? Or is
left vendor dependent?

Thanks

Hi Chuck,

This document has been submitted to the IESG for publicaiton, but the
ball is still in my court to fill out a submission questionnaire so
that this document can be processed by Bert. I haven't been placing
a high priority on getting the questionnaire done, as Bert is
currently on medical leave. I expect that he will be back soon, so I
will try to get the submission questionnaire completed some time soon
after this IETF meeting.

So, at the moment, the WG has agreed to send the document to the
IESG, but the IESG has not started processing it.

draft-ietf-entmib-state-07.txt

A month has gone by since I have seen any mail regarding
ENTITY-STATE-MIB
or ENTITY-STATE-TC. Last I recall it was making its way towards
submission to the IESG, but sill needed AD review and IETF last call.
Does anyone know what its current status is?

Thanks,
chuck
