Area Advisor and Director change

For those who don't already know, Bert Wijnen retired from the position of
Operations and Management Area Advisor and Director and I would really
like to thank Bert for all his hard work, many reviews, guidance and advice
throughout the many years that he has served in this position.

Dan Romascanu, has replaced Bert as Area Advisor, and joins David Kessens
as an Area Director. I extend a very warm welcome to Dan and look forward
to working together with Dan and David.

Our current work items are to publish the ADSL2 MIB draft as an RFC and
develop the VDSL2 MIB which is scheduled to be completed towards
the end of 2006.

Best Regards,
Menachem

RE: Area Advisor and Director change

Thanks, Menachem.

It is a honor for me to step on Bert's footsteps. I am looking forward
to work with the ADSL MIB WG for the successful completion of the goals
within your charter.

Regards,

Dan

RE: Area Advisor and Director change

Thanks for the nice words Menachem.
Not sure I really "retire from" as opposed to "step down as AD"
in order to allow new blood and new energy to steer the OPS
area together with David. I am sure Dan will help and steer
the WG at least as good if not better as I did.

Bert

VDSL2 MIB

Hi,

The following summarizes the changes required on the VDSL2 MIB draft,
following the approval of the ITU-T G.997.1 document
in February. I thank Moti Morgenstern for his inputs.

Minor changes to already existing attributes, e.g., values range,
changes in the description part, etc.
   The addition of new attributes.
   Removal of obsoleted attributes.
Structural changes in a few tables, to handle attributes that are now
per band but were previously per transmission direction.

An open issue that remains is defining which parameters from the ITU-T
G.997.1 document belong in the “Mode Specific” tables.

We anticipate the reception of WT-129 from the DSL Forum in mid-May after
their meeting (May 8-11), as indicated in the Liaison that
was received in March.

Editors, please note that the next revision of this draft is due in June.

Best Regards,
Menachem

draft-ietf-adslmib-adsl2-07.txt

Hello all,

I've submitted the -07 version to the internet-drafts. It should appear in
the next few
days on the IETF draft site.

Here is the list of changes compared to -06 version:

1) Added references (in ITU-T G.997.1) for textual convention enumerations
that
start with the value 0. (Comment from Bert)

2) Removed a restriction in the description section of RowStatus regarding
modification of "active" profiles/templates. (comments from NEC)

3) Bert commented on zero-length strings. This definition is commonly used
in MIBs,
including in the Interfaces group MIB (RFC2863). It indicates that an
attribute may be
set as a NULL string.

4) Corrected the description of adsl2ChConfProfMinProtectionUs. (comment
from Bert)

5) Bert commented on discontinuity indication in current PM tables. We
already have
attributes (xxxTimeElapsed) in those tables that indicate the time since
the PM interval
started. We added text explaining that no discontinuity events (
unusual/irregular events)
