I'm not sure I'm following you here. What would/should that achieve?
I don't expect those chunks to be randomly playable.

I don't think it would impact the game much, probably as much as network
(minus the lag). Besides, if one profiles wormux, one can see that most of
them time is already spent in SDL.

> - A whole game recording is the join of each split

You mean chunks above? Same problem as for video: if you want to be able to
seek easily, you must insert self-dependant elements, followed by this chunk
depending on this first element. Big fat problem is that you need to store:
- the map in the current state (300K)
- for all teams, all parameters affecting each character
And lots of code to actually be able to set such elements.

> - when recording is off, a chunk can be replaced by the next one

OK, so it really sounds like the live replay, and not the "demo" I was
thinking of. So, same problem as stated above. At least I don't have
sufficient knowledge of wormux to make it happen. The demo concept is simpler
and is still a far cry from being ready.

Re: Replay recording/replaying

Here is an updated version against r899. It now asks for the filename and a
comment at results screen. The .dat must be left, as it is used for file
filtering by the replay brower, the other addition. This is one is directly
available at the title screen, and should be, I hope, self-explanatory.

As for the replays, whenever you use ninja rope, teleportation or the like,
expect problems. This is mostly because replay is based on network, and those
actions aren't yet perfectly supported. I also noticed great risks of
unsynchronisation on bonus box interaction and some other events. The
selection may jump from one character without much notice also.

Kurosu

Re: Replay recording/replaying

Hi!
Evrything seems to go fine, until i try to replay a recorded file.
There are 2 situations:
- I save a replay, and replay it without quiting wormux : an exception is
catched when clicking on the ok button of the replay menu, no error msg is
displayed ( except "Error:" )
Here is the backtrace:
Adding file record.dat
Adding file record2.dat
Adding file record3.dat

Wormux packages

Hi,

I'm currently updating the gna download area with the slackware package.
I also move old files in "archive" folder.

It seems that lots of distro packages are outdated. There aren't any
package of version 0.7.2 for any distribution !!! Can someone managed
communications with packagers to ensure that package can be updated as
soon as it is not integrated in distribution ?

Bye,

Matt

I totally agree with you. We must have the same list in "Credits" menu
and in the authors list on the website. The best one is the website list
on my mind. Unfortunately, I do not see any way to not have to edit 2
different lists. (The Credits menu is generated from "authors.xml").
