[Warmux-dev] Name change in IANA

Good evening to you all,

http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers
still uses the old project name. Is this desirable?

[Warmux-dev] website

Finally i hate the cms we have choose for wormux website. It's
impossible to find a lot of options. Actually some pages doesn't display
picture for an unknown reason, that's really annoying. I propose to
create, some little html pages really simple, in a first time for the
warmux release. We will improve the website later. What do you think
about it?

[Warmux-dev] Ubuntu-Font

AFAIK, the ubuntu font supports at least these writing-systems:

      * latin (plus a lot of extensions for most languages)
      * greek (including polytonic symbols)
      * cyrillic (don't know)

I think it would make Wormux somewhat special. Also, we would be the
first FLOSS program which ships it.

Yours, Robert Clausecker.

Fair use (?)

Hm... The question is, how much they have to pay for the app in the
store or whether it's free. But you can ask.

(Best would be one of the leaders)

Kind regards, Robert Clausecker

[RFC] Changing the project name

Hi,

I have the belief (and some IP right enforcement cases underlining a potential danger) that the
project/game name should stop referring to its worms-clone origin. I have tried to list things required
for that (imo required) transition here:
http://www.wormux.org/phpboost/wiki/name-transition

This is both a dangerous thing to do, and a potential opportunity. A dangerous thing because transitions
always incur the risk of loosing something, an opportunity because the change and required actions may
bring new attention to our project.

This shall coincide with several things that, if debatable, should be split off to their own discussion thread:
- numbering change (a long-standing discussion); among those consulted, year.month was the preferred format
- release of the new version, including Android support; it will be delayed by the transition

Well, what do you think about it? Anyone volunteering for some of the tasks?

Best regards,
Christophe

Debian packages?

Hi,

from http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=wormux
you can see latest debian package is 0.8.5; this means people using a debian won't be able to play network
games, and their bug report would be useless. Do you know how to gently nudge the packager to push 0.9.2.1 at
least in sid?

Also, is the wormux-servers package of any worth? AFAIK, it won't be able to talk to the main index server,
due to protocol changes.
http://packages.debian.org/sid/wormux-servers
Same, this should be dropped, not because the package is not working, but it is of no use.

Best regards,
Christophe

Re: Wormux-dev Digest, Vol 64, Issue 2

No answer, but I just want to tell the devs, that this app is quite
popular in Germany, so don't think it's just some spam. (I don't know,
whether you know it too).

[Bug 174363] Re: wormux crashed with SIGSEGV in TTF_SetFontStyle()

The PPA address (not maintained by me) is:
https://launchpad.net/~wormux/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter=lucid

While I don't know much about ppas, the above page seems to list 0.9.2
as available for Lucid. The Wormux project only supports the latest
release, due to for instance the network changes making older versions
unlikely to be played and so on. So a major difference if using that ppa
(highly recommended) is that any bug will have to be submitted upstream
at https://gna.org/bugs/?group=wormux

Thanks

[Bug 174363] Re: wormux crashed with SIGSEGV in TTF_SetFontStyle()

I consider it fixed: 0.8beta2 is *very* old, and I do remember reworking
font support and fixing bugs (not sure I can match this bug report to
any of our bugtracker).

It's a matter of backporting then (0.9.2). I know there's a ppa
somewhere but I have no idea where it's located and what it provides.

Maybe I'll update this with more info about this ppa and any bug report
I find.
