Merge of the terrain branch

Hi all,

It's slowly getting time to think about the merging back of the terrain
branch. The current status is still work in progress and will need some
more time but in order to be ready for a merge back to trunk. But it's
getting close to be finished.

The following points need to be addressed:
 * converting the terrain config files (mog is working on this part)
 * creating a conversion script for the maps (Darth Fool is working on
   this part)
 * the new system needs to be tested and some code cleanups are required
 * check whether the changes in the terrain branch conflict with Dave's
OpenGL branch. (I don't think so but might be wise to test before
   merging.)
 * the documentation on the wiki needs to be updated.

 * the editor needs an overhaul (this can also be done in trunk) needs
some new features and the structure needs to be reworked in some parts
 * the random maps need to be converted
 * all campaigns need to be converted (UtbS and IE don't work due to
   custom letters)
 * all MP scenarios and maps need to be converted

For the last 4 points it would be the easiest to have a code freeze on
these areas. AFAIK nobody is working or wants to work at the editor and
the random maps, so I would like to ask for a code freeze on them
directly.

For the campaigns and MP stuff I want to propose a code freeze about two

Getting ready for 1.2

Hi everybody!
Since we now had quite many release candidates and I think that the game
is rather polished I do vote for tagging 1.2 on Friday at 22:00 GMT+1.
If there are any objections against this, please post it. If I get no
negative feedback, no matter which way (IRC, dev-ml, forum pm) I will
tag 1.2 about that time.
So if you got anything left that should go in either complete it now,
postpone it if you know that it takes a long time (do not postpone
important bugfixes), or just tell me to wait a little longer if you know
that you will be able to make the release very soon.
Like you can see in this timetable I would like to announce 1.2 stable
on Saturday evening or maybe Sunday in the morning. It would be nice to
have some binaries at this time so I did put the packagers that gave
their email addys to the team into the CC of this mail. (Sorry if anyone
of you gets the mail twice)
I did already pm Jetryl concerning graphics and he said that he would
probably get most of his list done. If something is missing we at least
do have a good reason for a 1.2.1 release next year. ;)
Greets,
Nils Kneuper aka Ivanovic

PS: In short words: Deadline is Friday evening, 22:00 GMT+1,
Announcement to happen Saturday evening (GMT+1)

AW: Getting ready for 1.2

Hi all,

There are still some issues with replays i would like to fix before we
release 1.2. I have to admit my svn checkout is weeks old and i have no idea
what has been done in the meantime. I would like to check that and fix what
needs fixing (no, not that big patch i had to revert). I can't promise to be
able to do it this year or even before Saturday. I will try to give you more
detailed feedback within the next 2 days.

Greetings

Yogi

Re: Getting ready for 1.2

I would push it out, unless something is seriously wrong.

If it doesn't go out soon, we'll miss mutch of the holidays, which is
a great opportuninty for people to download and discover Wesnoth.

Comments are welcome. I will send a first version of this to the

Re: Getting ready for 1.2

Okay, just as a last warning, I am going to tag 1.2 in a little less
than 8 hours and the tarball should be ready about one hour later. If
anything is left to commit, do so ASAP. I hope that we doe have the
binaries until tomorrow in the evening so that the announcement can be
published on the website.

Have you noticed bug 8070 (https://gna.org/bugs/?8070)? Wensoth fails to
compile with recent SDL versions and adding a simple
#define SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER_X11
to clipboard.cpp fixes it. Affected systems are X11 && !Apple, e.g. all
Unix systems except Apple (don't know about the propritary OS with
installed X server).

Yes, it looks very much like a badly compiled libSDL binary on some
distributions.

Ok, let me discuss this here instead of via the ugly web frontend.

I could reproduce this problem in Gentoo! I'm completely new to this
distribution and run it on a Mips system.

libXt exists on my system:
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.{so,a,...}

It is also a compile and not a link error.

Please look into your /usr/include/SDL/SDL_syswm.h!

# equery belongs /usr/include/SDL/SDL_syswm.h
media-libs/libsdl-1.2.11 (/usr/include/SDL/SDL_syswm.h)

It contains a lot of conditional definitions of SDL_SysWMinfo and only
one defines the "info" member, namely using SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER_X11.
Without defining it, SDL_PROTOTYPES_ONLY is defined instead.
