Torcs 1.3.1 system requirements

hi, I've just installed Torcs 1.3.1 on my system. While with 1.3.0 I have
nearly 50 fps, 1.3.1 only gives 3/4 fps!

Has something changed so much in Torcs? I am using opensource radeon drivers
with Mesa 7.0.3 (Mandriva 2008 Spring).

Thanks

CPU Pentium M 1733MHz
RAM 1,5GB
GPU Ati Radeon X600 Mobility with 64MB

Technically in TORCS nothing has changed regarding this, but on the content side
a lot happened, so most car textures now consume ~4 times more memory, and some
tracks look much better, this requires all more memory for the textures, so when
the graphics memory runs out the textures must be fetched from "ordinary"
memory, this is very slow.

You can go to the OpenGL settings in TORCS and reduce the "max texture size",
try as example 256 and look if this helps.

Hope this helps

Bernhard

Well, I even tried 64 and it didn't really help. But I noticed that when
facing a wall, I got more than 20fps. So I tried to reduce the "Visibility"
parameter to 40%, and then I've got an average of 10 fps .

Then I changed to track to Olethros Road 1, and everything is smooth at more
than 30 fps. Thanks! It seems that the new default track is overkill ;-)
