Spielfrieks "For sale" Posting Guidelines

A For Sale ("[FS]") post is any message that is primarily meant to advertise games for direct sale or to draw
attention to an eBay auction or a "Games For Sale" web page.

First, let us point out that there is a separate mailing list at Yahoo Groups, Spielfrieks Marketplace,
which was established in April 2002 to serve as the "classified ads" of the Spielfrieks community.
Spielfrieks Marketplace can be found here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/spielfrieks-marketplace/

For Sale [FS] posts on Spielfrieks must follow these guidelines:

1. For Sale [FS] posts must be limited to one message per person per week.

2. No game should be advertised for sale more than once by the same seller. That is, if you say "I have Password
available for $50" then you shouldn't come back a week later and say "I have Password available for $5."

3. No posts should be made to remind everyone that a previously-announced eBay auction is soon ending.

4. Any For Sale [FS] posts (to either list) should be for Spielfrieky games -- not war games, not roleplaying
games, not CCGs, etc. Spielfrieky games are "sophisticated board and card games, with an emphasis on
German or European titles."

5. The [FS] tag must be used in the subject line so that those who do not want to read such posts can easily
delete them.

6. For Trade [FT] posts are subject to the same restrictions as For Sale [FS] posts.

Members who do not follow these guidelines on Spielfrieks will receive a warning, followed by more drastic

Any particularly exciting KS games?

Anyone especially interested in any specific current or past Kickstarter
games?

I've been overwhelmed and they have all fallen off my radar.

File - Spielfrieks Etiquette Text

Spielfrieks Etiquette

The Spielfrieks list is one of the largest forums for the discussion of German-style (aka designer) games.
Here are a few tips and some general guidelines designed to keep Spielfrieks an enjoyable and useful forum.

1. Try to keep the subject line in tune with the content of your message. If you reply to one email but the
subject starts to drift, please change the subject line to reflect the new topic. This makes it much easier
for those reading to filter on the subjects that interest them most.

2. Cut down on unnecessary quoted text (text from the person you are replying to). This is especially true of
the boiler-plate Spielfrieks material that is appended to every posted message. It's hard to read these
messages with lots of extra quoted text - especially in digest mode. The number of messages is so great that
not everyone can keep up - so please be judicious in cutting out text in replies.

3. Please use www.tinyurl.com or another URL-shortening service when posting long links. Many email
programs will split long URLs, making the links unworkable without some annoying cut-and-paste work.

4. If the number of messages is too large for you, go into digest mode where you receive one message a couple
times each day containing a digest of all posts. You get the same information, but slightly delayed. There
is also web-based browsing of the group where you can read the messages online (and get no emails). You can
configure this at the Spielfrieks homepage (see below - use the Edit My Membership option from the
Spielfrieks homepage).

If you are in email mode, most good email clients allow you to filter your incoming messages and file them
away in a folder different from your inbox. You can easily search on the word [spielfrieks] which appears
in every message from the list and use that to trigger storing your messages in a convenient folder for
later viewing.

Another option is to view the messages at http://news.gmane.org/gmane.games.spielfrieks

Re: Any particularly exciting KS games?

I was in the minority at gulf games. But I like sunrise city. My group really likes the fire rescue game.
Dday dice is cute. I think these all could have been main street games.

Re: Any particularly exciting KS games?

Sunrise City felt like a 6.2 of cobbled-together mechanics with really nice
components attached. It's not bad.

Re: Any particularly exciting KS games?

I felt like Sunrise City was very, very pretty... but with little actual
control.

In my one play, I thought Sunrise City was an otherwise adequate game
ruined by the awful mechanism for bidding for building plots.

Is it just me, or are there more and more of these completely unattractive
games coming out, even expressed as a percentage?

RE: Re: Any particularly exciting KS games?

Well, we play the published variant to play two bidding tokens at a time.
And, I like that way. I also think the try to score exactly 10 is what
makes the game more than just playing tiles.

Re: Any particularly exciting KS games?

This one's a shameless plug: I'm excited about Ta-Te Wu's The Battle of Red
Cliffs, which I helped him develop. As a huge fan of his earlier Z-Man
game, Tien Zi Que, I was really happy to hear that he came up with a way to
expand this Mahjong-style card game into a 1-9 player game. We've been
having a great time playing the prototype at local game events and it's
become a staple for my work lunchtime game days, too. As a great lover of
Mahjong and similar rummy-style card games (like Mystery Rummy), I am
excited about the full version of this finally coming out for Essen 2012.

I also recently supported SolForge, the new electronic trading card game
from Gary Games and Richard Garfield. The mix of old and new designers
sounded kind of interesting to my son and me (he's a huge fan of Ascension,
particularly on iOS). Plus, the art actually looks good (the one thing I
really don't like about Ascension).

Although I'm disappointed that someone beat me to a deckbuilding super-hero
game (although my idea involves some other elements), this one sounds fun
and we're backing it. The Print-and-Play option is certainly a deal at only
$1 - which is an interesting alternative to just uploading the file to BGG.

Those are all the ones on my radar, although I almost supported the Aces of
Aces reprint (until I realized it had been years since I played the two
editions that I already have) and I'm intrigued by Jeff Dee campaign to
recreate apparently destroyed TSR artwork from the original books. I only
