help with sd-accc

Hi friends.
I'm finishing Goldstone Sand. I followed the tutorial to create the shadow file. I have also followed the tutorial to create the file track.acc
I have reduced all objects less than 500 faces. I triangulated faces and removed all the duplicate vertices. Then I modified the file
track.ac by repairing refs 4 and refs 2
I created the file track-shade.ac
The problem comes in trying to combine the files with sd-accc
I have an error that is not how to solve. The terminal output is:

...
TKMN6869600 : points not in the same order, reordering ...
TKMN6869600 : reordered 0 points
TKMN6869600 : reordering ... done
TKMN6869600 : points not in the same order, reordering ...
TKMN6869600 : reordered 0 points
TKMN6869600 : reordering ... done
making groups
Segment Fault

I need help :-(

Blendswap car?

Hi SD-Team,

i recently found this on Blendswap:
http://www.blendswap.com/3D-models/vehicles/lamborghini-gallardo/
if used without subdivision i think it's lowpoly enough to go into SD.

Just asking if someone is going to or is already converting it,
or if i should try it.

my 2pence on accc:
i don't know if it is any help on the subject but for me accc crashes
when a mesh-file contains one or more objects which have just 1 quad
that is triangulated and the vertices are welded. After unwelding the vertices on said object(s) accc
works normal.

Another thing that looks odd is that polys with "refs 2" (actually lines)
are kept by doublicating a vertex (thus actually creating an illegal
triangle) instead of being removed.

Lastly i want to ask once again if somebody on the team could fix
the SD-Forum-issue with accessing topics and posting, because the
last login by the admin was on May 6th, so i'm not sure my last post
regarding this has been read.

regards

Re: [Speed-dreams-devel] help with sd-accc

Hi Manfariel,

sounds like a great progress :)

I used these commands for the reworked track:

sd2-accc +shad name-source.ac name-source-shade.ac
sd2-accc -g name.acc -l0 name-source.ac -l1 name-source-shade.ac -d3
1000 -d2 500 -d1 300 -S 300 -es

Where does the errors popup? On your source file or at the shading file?
If you like you can send me a download link and i will try to fix it.

Cheers
Eckhard.

Archer R9 Previews

I don't know if this is the correct address to send this, but anyway, here it is.

I've made a set of previews pictures for almost all the Skins the Archer R9 LS1 car plus a couple of the 36gp cars. If these are accepted & incorporated, i'll probably make some more.

I love the Eclipse one, and also the March one (not the March2 one).
Even if the March one is a bit dark.

As for the others, for me the position of the camera is not very good
if you intend to give the users a good idea of the 3D shape of the car
(too orthogonal to the main dimensions of the car).

Only my 2 pence :-)

But IIRC, Orcine had started to work on these previews, and especially
on the Archer ones ... we should avoid double work, when so much is left :-)
(on other cars like 36 GP or other LS1 ones, as an example ...).

Ocirne ?

Cheers,

Jean-Philippe.

Wow ... seems like a really great step towards the ultimate solution
we have been looking for ...

The camera angle/position is perfect for my taste ;
The lightening seems also OK for me
(even I don't know much about this : some of us might want more : let them talk !)

What do you think, everyone ?

Shouldn't we commit quickly this "showroom track" in our SVN repo
(or at least share it widely) in order all the "preview shooters" can play with it ?

Cheers,

Jean-Philippe.

Re: [Speed-dreams-devel] Preview images (ls1-zentek-z7r)

Hi Jaime,

the lightning/ shading looks great. We discussed ones the previews and
developed the idea
of a showroom track inside SD.

I started with it too but did not finish it.
I will drop you screenies this evening.

Cheers
Eckhard.

I think they look great, and the fact that it 'automates' the screen shots
means that we don't have to think twice about processing every car in the
SVN (as we can quickly remake them if they change).

Absolutely...

In the future could this be the basis for a 'live garage' cam which could
instantly alter the car depending on tire selection, ride height and other
customisations?

Yes, I was also thinking about that... in a future release, the
"garage" button on the car selection screen could load this special
"garage-track" in a window (with a fixed F9 view), along the controls
for tuning the car. There could be there an additional button to save a
preview image, so both purposes get served with the same screen.
