No, but I will not be attending.  We'll see if one of our Yahoo! regulars can attend.

Re: Holiday weekend

Rick and I usually attend the Monday holiday sessions, but will not be (even if you can find a Yahoo to open the door) because we'll be at Pacificon in Santa Clara all weekend gaming there.

Re: Holiday weekend

Sorry folks for not commenting on this earlier.
I hadn't firmed up my weekend plans yet.

I'll post a poll and see if there is still interest in having an afternoon session.

New poll for sb-boardgamers

Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
sb-boardgamers group:

Monday, Sept 7th, Labor day. Who's interested in attending?
Personally, I plan to attend 3:30pm-8pm maximum, but others are welcome to stay to whenever.

o I'll be there at 3:30pm when the doors open!
o I won't be attending, but I do vote in polls to show people I read them.
  o I'll trickle in sometime between 3:30pm and 6:30pm.
  o Even though its a holiday, 6:30pm is a habit I can't break.
o I may show up, I may not, but I don't want anyone to know for sure, or when I'm coming.

To vote, please visit the following web page:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sb-boardgamers/surveys?id=2547993

Note: Please do not reply to this message. Poll votes are
not collected via email. To vote, you must go to the Yahoo! Groups
web site listed above.

Thanks!

Any conclusions yet? I have two out-of-town gamers looking to make plans for Monday...

Re: Holiday weekend

Thanks for putting up the poll, wasn't sure it was on but I'll be there now.

Wow, do some of you start at 3:30 PM regularly? I might join in earlier in future weeks if so.

Re: Re: Holiday weekend

Nope, 3:30pm isn't typical. Holiday sessions often start much earlier.
Sometimes I start them at 11am, noon, or 1pm.

Typically, the official start time is 6:30, but some people do show up earlier. I've heard of as early as 5pm
for some.

On workdays, some Yahoos do use the cafeteria to work quietly or for meetings, so I probably wouldn't want to
encourage a large number of people to show up earlier than people currently do.

18xx night approaches!

18zz night approachs...this coming Monday! In order to help people get
into the games they want to play, how about we try organising what will
be played and by whom? I'll lead off:

If we have the new players (and nobody else damands to run the
teaching game!) then I'll run the teaching game. It feels like a
while since I've taught, and heck, I like teaching.

If I don't run the teaching game then I'm pretty easy about playing
    most anything. 1830? 18Mex? 18TN? 18Scan?

This month's addition is that I've made up copies of the Pere Marquette
and Coalfields expansions for 1830 and they look pretty intersting:

  http://kanga.nu/~claw/blog/2009/08/28/game-observances/variants-for-1830/

What are you interested in? Let's try and get the games and their
players sorted out. Reply publicly or privately and we'll work out the
best mix.
