Re: New poll for sb-boardgamers

Yes, I'd like to play next Monday but for some reason my Yahoo user id is not working, I need to activate some sort of web part, and a lot of other hassles that are a bit too much when all I want to do is vote on a freakin'poll.

Interesting. My Yahoo ID hasn't been working either, I created a new account named dkeisen1 rather than dkeisen and have been using that.

Mine worked, but it took freakin' forever to go to the poll page after I logged in. It just
sort of spun for minutes, but eventually rendered. Perhaps it was just a Yahoo hiccup when you
tried?

Re: Problems with your yahoo id

If your yahoo id wasn't working - meaning, you couldn't log on with your password, it may have been due to you getting phished.  Did you have to "login to see your friends photos" recently?  If so, you were phished, yahoo doesn't prompt you to login to see photos.

If the reactivation through security questions does not work, you'll need to contact customer care.  If you can't find the email, and you've *really* looked, I might find it for you.

Also, if you've been dormant for some period (I think 3 months with no log on), then, you also need to reactivate.

We're Legit! aka new security procedures

Hey gang, the SB-Boardgamers group is now officially recognized by Yahoo! Security as having special status. From now on, in exchange for quickly checking-in at the front gate (which we are making super-easy, see below) we will now be allowed to park in the parking structure behind the coffee bar and in the surface lot right near the cafeteria (a very short hop for those who are carrying in games.) Yahoo! Security will actually provide a guard at the garage door to the cafeteria to let you in – all official like.

There are only two details remaining:

1) We need to pick the hour that we get this express service. [Fill out the poll!]
2) We get to design a printable pass that you customize with your car license plate number and name.

The new procedure will be: Bring your pass and drop it at the gate, flashing a photo ID, and they'll give you a flyer with directions to the garage. They will open the employee-gate to the parking area and `buzz' you into the building.

Late comers will have to go through the longer wait-at-the-gate procedure while the Host (usually John Yeager or myself) is called for clearance. This will certainly interrupt the Host's turn and make Him Grumpy, so please try not to be late.

Ted's working on the pass design now (customizable PDF)… look for it by the weekend.

[Sent as special notice to all members. There will be one more special follow-up to this message sent in a few days. If you are no longer interested in SB-Boardgamers, you can unsubscribe at: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/sb-boardgamers]

The current poll results are overwhlemingly for between 18:00 and 19:00.
However my observation is that we very regularly have players turning up
in the 30 minutes after 19:00, I think it would be unpleasant and bad
for the group if players found themselve locked out due to a little
traffic, a late work meeting, or other schedule slip. It would be great
if we can arrange the default security window to err on the side of
generosity.

Excellent! I'm glad y'all wer able to sort out the fears. It can be a
difficult thing I know.

I presume their primary concern is tracking the foreign bodies across
the campus?

Not to be entirely curmudgeonly, but I rather like where I've been
parking up front and the simple ease of walking back and forth. The
short walk back to the front carpark is pleasantly head clearing after
work and before the games, and after the games before the drive home.
Are the security guys asking that we all park out back? Do you think
they'd be happy with just seeing that we actually walk to/enter the
cafeteria? Not trying to push, just get a feel for what they actually
want to secure out of the situation and their expectations.

Heh. That seems reasonable. I've actually been thinking about offering
a gaming group at PayPal for many months now, held back only by the fact
that the cafeteria (and all meeting rooms) are behind the security
cordon and none of the external doors are visible from the cafeteria.
Walkups would be a similar problem.

> Ted's working on the pass design now (customizable PDF) look for it

We'll need to print our own copies before arrival? We'll probably want
to arrange a rescue path for the many group members who don't
(regularly) read this list.
