In addition to a new version of Age of Steam:London and a possible
first public outing for me AoS:Romania, I'll be bringing Claude
Parenteau's Aos:India, AoS:Spain and AoS:New Zealand (the latter
redrawn by me to fit on reasonable sized paper).

I'll also have the new Border Fights map variant for China (requires
a new board and a few rules changes over the base China).  We played
this on Saturday at BAP to universal acclaim.  Excellent little game
and quite a bit better than the already good original game.

Lastly, I'll have Borderlands with me.  Think something much akin to
A Game of Thrones or mare Nostrum, just pared down to the basics.

I've never attended - thinking of trying it out tonight.  How late does 
the group usually go?

Welcome, Tom!  It goes as late as you and the rest of the people you are
playing with want to go.  Most people play just one medium game for 2-
3 hours, but others have been known just to play a short one (45
minutes) and leave, and a few dedicated gamers have been known to knock
off 5 games in a session.  With around 20 people attending regularly,
it's easy to find a game or set of games that suits your playing time
requirements if you are vocal about them up front.

It starts emptying out around 21:30-22:00, but a few hardy souls have
been known to play until 02:00 or so every so often.

AoS successfully concentrates on those aspects of finance and route
building games that Daniel finds least interesting, so it isn't too
surprising that he's not fond of the game.  AoS heads directly away from
his alley.

Gamesday on Sunday


(THis is mostly for Dirk as I forgot to mention it to him this evening

  The Gamesday at the Los Altos Public library is this Sunday (yes,
  Sunday).  Gaming will occur between 12:00 noon and sometime in the wee
  hours of the morning.

Caylus tonight with Modern Art turn-order qualifier

There are three slots open for tonight's big CAYLUS game (with the new
cardboard money...oooooh).

The catch? We'll be playing Modern Art first, and the order that
people finish in (winner goes first, etc.) will be the turn order for
Caylus!

So far Hank and myself are on the list.

POST here (aka "send a message to the group") before 5:00pm tonight if
you want in...only the first three who post will make it into the game!
