AoS Map Playtesters needed!

As many of you know, I dipped my toe into the morass of game designing and publishing this year. I've been relentlessly hawking prototypes to publishers (with "San Andre Asphalt & Paving" now due to be published in mid-2006, and hopefully others to follow), and self-published a limited edition of an Age of Steam expansion map focusing on the Bay Area which sold out at the Essen trade show.

Because I had a limited number of AoS maps printed, demand far exceeded supply, and I negotiated a deal with Winsome Games to do a "real" printing of the Bay Area map. However, as the map was never initially intended to be a commercial map, I didn't size it correctly, which is a major issue for AoS players and collectors. To that end I've redone the map slightly, with a few new features but overall the same feel, but now at the correct Warfrog size. In addition, I've been working and testing another map with a much more interesting historically-accurate theme that has a few other additional features. You can see a little bit about the two maps at http://games.bezier.com/PA-NC.html.

Because I'm going to print and sell these two maps commercially, I'm very concerned with making sure that both maps are as good as possible before I commit to a large print run, and therefore I need more playtesters. To sweeten the pot a bit, I've decided to give each playtester 50% off the price of the finished map per playtest session, so if you playtest the maps just twice you'll get a copy free! And no, that doesn't mean I'll start paying folks if they test a map three or more times... The production/shipping/royalty costs are high enough that I have to sell a huge number of maps just to break even (game publishing is considered the quickest way to turn a lot of money into a much smaller amount of money).

Anyway, I'll be looking for as much feedback as possible from as many different playtesters as possible. The only real qualification is that you've played Age of Steam before, and that you are willing to take a few minutes following a gaming session to provide feedback on the game, both good and bad, to ensure that the maps are the best they can be. Please let me know if you're interested in testing! I'll be bringing the maps and two copies of AoS with me to game nights for the next few weeks for playtesting purposes.

Thanks!

Re: AoS Map Playtesters needed!

Ted,

I'd be up for testing the PA map tonight. I could use
a break from Caylus, I had dreams/nightmares of that
game all during my restless sleep Friday night.

Power Grid

So, I think Randy was wanting to learn Power Grid this week. Anyone
else up for it?

Should we give Power Grid Italy a go?

*Ted, sign me up for copies of both AOS Maps*

Re: Power Grid

I'm in for Power Grid.  I'd consider the AoS playtesting, but I think Ted wants experienced AoS players, not n00bz like me.
