2.3.1 broke my mac

I hope somebody here can help.

I've been playing Angband 2.2.7 for a while now on my Mac (running 10.3). I found Mac
compile for 2.3.1, so downloaded it, but it seems to have borked my system. It never
loaded, and I can no longer play the old 2.2.7 or even my Nethack Qt. (I assume it means
that Qt was busted, as nothing else seems to have been disturbed.)

The file I downloaded was at:
http://munge.net/tome-231-osx.tar.bz2
and I found it through the ToME wiki:
http://wiki.t-o-m-e.net/GeneralDiscussion_2f2_2e3_2e1_20for_20OSX

Any ideas on what happened or how to fix it?

Thanks,
Marcus

Marcus...

I looked at the tar file. There is absolutely nothing in there that should
mess up your system.

The only thing that I can think of is that someone put some nasty code into
the binary that did some unpleasant things on your system.

Have you made any other changes on your system, such as installing patches?
Maybe one of them broke something.

If MacOS has "ldd" or the equivalent to list shared dependencies on binaries,
then I'd give it a try to see what the binary (both 2.3.1 and 2.2.7) show.

Re: 2.3.1 broke my mac

Thanks Kevin,

I hadn't installed any other programs or patches in about a week, so I
think it has to be connected with the ToME files I installed--the
effect was very immediate.

MacOS doesn't have ldd, but gets the same effect from otool (or so I've
learned).
The only things that comes up as common among all the programs that
have stopped working is libSystem.B.dylib. I've seen it implicated in
problems other people have had with 10.3, though I haven't had their
problems.

Thanks for the help. I'll keep probing.

Summoning

Since fixing the partial summon costing system made summoners incredibly
weak, I just re-wrote the formula. I think this one might be a little too
lenient, though, so please test and comment.

[RFC] ToME Documnet Generator

A while back DarkGod asked me to finish off the ToME Document Generator
that resides in the tome-mod-utils repository. This tool is used to
parse the pkg files that are in the src directory and generate web pages
from the comments and to cut a long story short I am now at a stage
where I would like some feedback on what I have done.

I have put some sample output, based on the v3 pkg file, on my site at
http://www.iain-mac.dsl.pipex.com/ToME/DocGen/index.html

If you want to have a play I have put the the jar file I used and some
instructions on how to use it on my site at
http://www.iain-mac.dsl.pipex.com/ToME/index.html

Cheers,
iain_mac
