18SX Private #8

What does it do?

My rules don't say, and there is no private powers table?

Bill,

I assume we are talking about Wolfram Janich's 1837SX and private #8, which
is the "Richard Hartmann Sachs Maschinenfabrik". If so, on my copy the
description is on the back of the card which states: "The owning Corporation
may purchase one train at half price. This action closes the Sachsische
Maschinenfabrik."

I hope that helps.

18US - cyberboard gamebox

In May 2005, Randy Shipp posted to the files section a gamebox for
18US, based on the then current prototype. Now that the game is
published in final form, has anyone created (or updated) the gamebox
for the game as published, to facilitate PBEM? (I know that Randy has
not.)

I have a copy of the game, and have created a spreadsheet which I will
post to the files section, but my cyberboard skills are not up to the
task of creating or updating the gamebox.

(All depending on David Hecht's nihil obstat, if not imprimatur.)

Chattanooga Rail Gaming Challenge November Update

Below is the text of an update I posted on the Chattanooga Rail
Gaming Challenge Yahoo group. The files section refers to the files
section there.

Thanks,
Mark

I have been meaning to post a little more info on the convention.
Since time is getting closer, here is some updated information.

The 13th annual Chattanooga Rail Gaming Challenge will be held once
again on MLK weekend (Jan. 16-18, 2009) at the Staybridge Suites in
Chattanooga. Note that this is a new location for the convention. For
those who have attended before, it is a new hotel located next to the
Wendy's about 3 blocks from the old location.

I have posted a preliminary flyer in the files section in .doc
format. This is similar to the final flyer I hope to mail out towards
the end of the month to everyone on my mailing list. If you wish to
be added, just email me with your mailing address.

About the hotel, let me say that it is even more luxurious than our
old location. I am particularly impressed with the dining table with
chairs in the one BR and 2 BR suites. The prices will be a little
higher than before, but especially with the 2 BR suites, as many as
six can sleep there, so take that into account when considering where
to stay. I posted a couple of months ago about the decision to move
the convention this year. Mainly I did it to assure a better room
block. Also, all of the meeting space is on the ground floor and is
adjacent, divided by accordian-like walls. Overall, we have about as

RE: Chattanooga Rail Gaming Challenge November Update

Mark,

I plan to attend (can one defend a third place finish?--I hardly think so). Pierre and I are planning to come
down and we will both be gunning for Peter.

I think the traditional games for the tourney is a good idea. 6 player games tend to be slower and it is
probably best to play games players are familar with.

Where do we mail our checks?

Bruce
