Isn't that how all math trades work, since you have to submit a want
list for each of your entries and want lists can be blank?

Yes, but folks that have never participated in a Math Trade sometimes
don't understand that. So, I was just trying to be explicit and clear.

Is it possible to specify multiple games in each entry of the want list?
Otherwise it is hard to trade a very valuable game since there are very
few single games that would be acceptable in trade.

You can't specify two different entries as a package for which to
trade a single entry. However, some entries include multiple games -
the first game and 'sweeteners' - an example is entry 336 where
Christopher Clouser offered Antiquity + three Age of Steam expansions
- he is specifically targeting entry 1 which is Outpost.

Also, with 800+ games in the trade list, there's a decent chance
several comparable valuable games will be available.

Right, but unless someone happens to have a set of such games that I want,
it doesn't help me. Frankly, there aren't any games there I would be
willing to pay $52 + shipping for, which is the cheapest 18xx game I could
offer (I would be hesitant to offer a kit since I would be afraid the
person getting it might not have understood what they were getting).

Well, that's the nice thing about a math trade - if you don't like
anything on offer, you can submit an empty want list and bow out. And
if you've really looked at the entire 800 item list and decided there
is nothing that appeals, you just don't make an offer in the first
place.

In my somewhat limited experience, about 30-50% of the games on offer
will actually be traded.

I personally would have no hesitation about offering a kit, as long as
the description is clear. I offered an old Midway game that's got
some significant condition issues, which I detailed in the
description/note. If someone wants it, they'll know what they're
getting ahead of time.

Re: Multi-player game trade

Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit a Want List for your
offered item that includes combinations of other offers. You can
obviously submit a Want List with multiple items on it but your offer
will be matched with only one other offer from your Want List.
However, it is possible to have offers that include more than one
game which then makes trades of a valuable game easier.
While we have almost 900 offers at this point, there are probably
less than 100 for $50 games or game pacakges.
However, sometimes it is a chicken and egg thing. Somebody posts a
batch of high-end games and then others respond with similar
offerings. Worst case the person that submitted the first batch of
high end stuff just has to submit blank Want Lists if the batch does
not generate similar offers.

Re: Multi-player game trade

If you were very clear in your explanation, I think that most people
would get it. There may be a few MT newbies in this particular MT,
but most folks are usually pretty good about asking for
clarification/explanation if something is not clear. And I think
(but could be mistaken) that the people that would actually be
lusting after 18xx titles would totally understand what you are
talking about as long as you were explicity with what came laminated
and what did not.

18West suggestions

Hello all,

I played 18West with my group and they liked many ideas in 18West as I do.
But after my second game and their first we are of the opinion, that 18West
needs some rule changes.

Here are our experiences and suggestions how we will play it again:

1) The Granger Roads are too strong. All of us played the strategy to run
them with one (or two) permanent trains until the end of the game. Just as
an insurance we tried to have the possibility to merge them into Public
Companies but we didn’t use this option.

Our opinion: Their train limit should be reduced to one with the first
4-train, at least with the first 5-train.

2) There are too many 6-trains and the 4Ds are too expensive, because for
one 4D you can nearly get two 6-trains. We bought only one 4D-train to kill
the 4-trains and then drove all companies with one or two 5- or 6-trains.

Our opinion: Limit the number of 6-trains to two. Reduce the price of the
4D-trains to 1000$; they can be unlimited. And maybe use an exchange: first
4-train (or better) for 4D-train for 800$.

3) The option to issue an unlimited number of shares during an operation
round turn forces other players to follow this tactic, because they will
loose trains and perform emergency money raising steps.

Our opinion: Remove the option of issuing shares during a company’s turn.
Keep this possibility during the M&A round. Limit the number of shares in
