Yep. It's electroluminescent (EL) wire.
I'll be happy to send directions and art to anyone else wanting to make one,
I think it took me under eight hours of work, at least 2.5 of which was
realizing that openoffice sucks, so I could do another in maybe 4 hours tops.

It does also have a different design on the back side (badge shape
surrounding a printed logo). Supply cost was: $6 t-shirt, $3.50 brass
wire, $10 iron-on transfer paper, plus some tape, safety pins, and a
dab or two of solder. I borrowed the EL wire and transformers from
friends, probably would have cost $15-$25.

Hiatus due to real life

Due to school and other circumstances in real life, I feel that it is best if I take a hiatus from my various teams and other online commitments for a while, until I can get real life in order. You will still find me online some, and you can always email me or send me an Instant Message when I'm online, but I won't be on IRC or anything such as that until this is over, and I don't know how long that will take.

The reason why I'm doing this? I have done virtually nothing in the Ubuntu community and related teams, plus the other online communities I'm a member of, for a while due to real life, and it's about to get worse. High school is a bigger time drain than I had originally predicted it to be, especially with several large tests and events coming up.

I'll see everyone later, probably sometime during my summer break coming up in June.

Regards,
Collin Pruitt

star trek online?

Anyone playing star trek online? It has the closest thing to 3D trek
that I've seen.

Begs for a mod on an existing engine to copy what they have, but add
netrek features such as planet taking.

Good stuff.

Re: star trek online?

I know you purist's probably wont like it, but Star Trek On-line is
pretty good once you get into it a bit,
the Star ship battle's between Fed and Klingon are pretty good, players
can now play both sides so
you are not just fighting bots. I have to admit this is the first Trek
game in 10 years that does not suck.
(and this is about as 3-D as your gonna get without Glasses, you need
some horsepower to play to full effect)

Re: star trek online?

No, but I bought a life time membership for a couple of hundred. or it is $15 a month
like most MMORPG's are these days.  I think there may be a free trial.
The space combat is really good, but this game is really deep. I am so surprised
that it came out so complete and working, unlike a lot of other games that should have been
kept in Beta for another year.  Their membership is huge and the developers seem to be pouring
a lot of resources into new content.  Team play is a must in combat, which is the huge bonus
on this game. Find a clan and ventrilo makes this a lot of fun.

OT discussions was Re: star trek online?

And y'all wonder why it's so hard to get people into Netrek? Ignoring
the problems with the game itself, the community is so incredibly
stuffy. Imagine a new player seeing this. No off-topic discussions?
People can't have friendly chit-chat? Oh hey, look, I'll go play
another game where people are friendly, and one that's less esoteric and
more easily playable to boot.

Seriously, guys, you're trying to promote a computer game that combines
the difficulty of chess, the twitch reflexes and hotkeying of Starcraft,
and the team tactics (and necessary team practice) of soccer, while
saddled with the graphics of nethack and and a text-only communication
system. Adding a closed, change-resistant community is *not* helping
your cause.

Re: OT discussions was Re: star trek online?

Geeezzz I seem to have warned you guys about this a few months ago... I
can see it has not gotten any better...
You are never going to get more people to play this way...
This sort of proves I am not the only one who feels this way about how
new people get treated.

Paul.
